Kodak's 8-mm thin KTEL-30W 3-inch AMOLED TV
If you're fortunate enough to be living in Japan then this new Kodak ELiTe Vision KTEL-30W AMOLED TV can be yours sometime later this month. Measuring just 8-mm thick, this 3-inch 1Seg TV features a mono speaker, headphone jack (naturally), and a lithium polymer battery good for about 3.5 hours of continuous TV playback. Thing is, It'll cost you about ¥29,800 or about $287 for functionality already integrated into many Japanese phones.

how does something like this recieve a signal? never used a portable tv before. (keeping in mind everything is to go digital.)

There are now several mobile digital TVs in Japan. They a radio modulation that carries both video and audio streams much like the ATSC system in the US. However in Japan the ISDB system has been configured such that 1 segment (1Seg) has been dedicated to low resolution mobile television for mass transit and emergency broadcasting. I have used a mobile TV in Japan on a bullet train moving at about 200 mph. Though on a bullet train tunnels and rapidly changing tower ranges become an annoyance. Supposedly Japan is rapidly trying to improve this situation. But in the mean time it works great in a taxi or above ground train around Tokyo.

why...kodak?

Because, believe it or not, Kodak and its partners are actually one of the leaders in OLED research and development. It's odd that it's Kodak branded, but not so strange that it's developed by Kodak.
karmaghost @ Mar 6th 2008 7:34PM
Oh, sorry, I should have also added that OLED technology was first developed at Kodak hence the reason why it's one of the leaders in the field.
