That's Dell's product rendering for its second generation
Latitude XT convertible tablet. Expected in November 2008, the XT2 will ship with Intel's latest
Montevina, er "Centrino 2" architecture in your choice of ULV or LV CPUs, new UMA graphics supporting Vista Aero, and possibly the option of an ultra-thin, optical drive integrated directly into the laptop instead of the optional Media Base. Dell also plans to replace one of the three USB ports with eSATA, a definite trend for Dell laptops in 2008. Otherwise, it brings the same 12.1-inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display found on the original XT -- which is fine by us.

So?

Next time you pee yourself with excitement at the thought of being the first to comment on an Engadget story, how about you try to seizure out more than 1 word?
Bucky @ Mar 19th 2008 12:37PM
Ok. Why would anyone be so excited about a new look, when the old XT was overpriced and underpowered? I'd be happier with the same old chassis with some beefed up innards and a price tag that is cut in half.
Excuse me while I go change my underwear.
Alex @ Mar 19th 2008 10:50AM
Looks pretty sweet.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.

"Dell also plans to replace one of the three USB ports with eSATA, a definite trend for Dell laptops in 2008"
I bought a Dell Latitude at the end of last summer that already had one of the USB ports replaced with an eSATA.
latchlock @ Mar 19th 2008 11:18AM
Estimated Price: approximately four times the cost of a fully loaded x61t.
bob e @ Mar 19th 2008 11:34AM
That is a confusing rendering.
It looks like the PC is sitting on shadow of 2 other PCs. Why did they do that?
Jake @ Mar 19th 2008 11:43AM
Agreed. Looks like crap with the shadows. It's hard to tell what it looks like.

The first manufacturer who comes out with a multitouch laptop as nice as the iphone's touchscreen and at a reasonable price and I will buy it. Apple should not have wasted time on the mac air but should have introduced a multitouch laptop.
Yogi @ Mar 19th 2008 12:48PM
I wish I could find one widescreen 12" laptop with WSXGA+ resolution.
MPallavicini @ Mar 19th 2008 10:59PM
They did. Apple updated the Macbook Pro with a multitouch trackpad ealier this month. Where have you been?
matt @ Mar 19th 2008 1:07PM
With ubuntu please Mr Dell...
matthew @ Mar 19th 2008 3:42PM

Phil S @ Mar 19th 2008 5:11PM

Jonny @ Mar 20th 2008 8:11AM
Latitude XT - So easy, even Bush can use it.
YasSouid @ Mar 21st 2008 12:27AM
Nothing special on the outside perfectly compliments the fact that there is nothing to speak of on the inside. It seems that dell is usually hit or miss with these things and this is most definitely a miss.
anjowskee @ Mar 25th 2008 4:03PM
And I care, because....?
Scott @ Mar 30th 2008 11:12PM
I just bought a faster, fully loaded thinkpad x61 with all the trimmings (battery slice, dock, ac/dc adapter, multi-touch screen etc) with a 3yr onsite warranty for $300 LESS than Dell's starting price for the xt...My advice to Dell on the XT2? SOLVE THAT PRICING & PERFORMANCE PROBLEM.
joe @ Mar 31st 2008 1:28PM
THis would be pretty cool
