HANNSpree reinforces claim on ugliest TV in existence
Just when you though HANNSpree's idiotic and pointless LCD stylings couldn't be topped, here comes HANNSpree to do it again. The company just launched a 15-inch "Starlight Blue" display in the UK, comprised of some of the worst sci-fi-inspired curves known to man, in conjunction with a bit of pretty princess glitter to complete the atrocious effect. Should you happen to accidentally bring this XGA display home for the £99 ($197 US) asking price, we recommend a burning with fire.

Wow...FUGLY!
jack @ Apr 28th 2008 4:31PM
@Mark
um.. It's straight from the UK. Last time I checked, that's not China.
And please keep ripping off other people's comments too, your originality is not in any way entertaining unlike HANNSpree
Tehseen @ Apr 28th 2008 4:42PM
@Mark...Stop using Caps you fool
aron @ Apr 28th 2008 4:46PM
@mark:
No, it's a Taiwanese company (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hannspree). If you want to call Taiwan, "China" (aka Republic of China), that's fine by me (not looking to get into a political argument here), but then I guess you couldn't stereotype China into making "garbage" since Taiwan happens to be the land of Acer, Asus, Foxconn, etc. Oops!
Esat Dedezade @ Apr 28th 2008 4:55PM
Dayyym.
If I was a tv I would definately NOT tap that.
kmr @ Apr 28th 2008 7:04PM
This setup is a lovely piece of art, and I'm not kidding. I can see someone paying at least $200 for it. This one will be something special. Keep your eye on it ;)
nDee @ Apr 29th 2008 6:35AM
It's so Doctor-Who.................
SurKaz @ Apr 28th 2008 3:52PM
Why does Hanspree keep doing this to themself? The handbag Screen..The Sheep and Firetruck.... and now this..
low tech @ Apr 28th 2008 4:04PM
Sounds like a bad episode of Cutey Honey to me.
StreetStealth @ Apr 28th 2008 5:03PM
This may be ugly, but...
The sheep. I mean, seriously, *the sheep*.
At least words can describe how ugly this one is. Unlike the sheep.
Anthony @ Apr 28th 2008 3:52PM
Looks like a cat (legs & tail is that thing in the back) wearing one of those protective cones.
MeatyPi @ Apr 28th 2008 3:54PM
iMac ripoff for sure
rob @ Apr 28th 2008 4:00PM
1st Klingon TV set ever
Stem $ell @ Apr 28th 2008 4:03PM
George Jetson is spinning in his grave! (I, too, can hardly Bar-bear it...)
w00t @ Apr 28th 2008 4:15PM
Damn, that's nasty!
Seriously that has got to be the worst looking display I have ever seen!
RandyFD @ Apr 28th 2008 4:19PM
Holy Crapoly!! That is one funky-looking TV, I can already see Dennis Rodman in line to get one.
Low Ranked @ Apr 28th 2008 4:24PM
Yeah, ok. And if it was white....
ByronGman @ Apr 28th 2008 5:59PM
I see what you did there!
daniel.schrimshire @ Apr 28th 2008 4:26PM
They opened a giant 2 story store in downtown SF a couple years ago. Don't know if it's still open, but that place was hideous. 2 floors of the stupidest tv's ever. Is Tom Hanks from "Big" running that company?
frankXchange @ Apr 28th 2008 4:42PM
Calling Dr. Cal Meacham, you Interociter has arrived. Seriously, I would love to get one for my 50's-60's themed recreation room.
superfresh @ Apr 28th 2008 4:46PM
I would never be able to focus on anything that was on the screen. Assuming no one would buy this for themselves, I would have to say this is the best worst gift in history. Imagine dropping this on someone at a gift exchange. Their horror alone would be worth the sticker price.
Low Ranked @ Apr 28th 2008 5:02PM
I don't think it would be all that bad in the kid's room..
Anthony @ Apr 28th 2008 5:39PM
$200 imported (to US, in my case) white elephant gifts are a bit pricey for me.
Johnny K @ Apr 28th 2008 5:27PM
I'd definitely smash that thing with a Dundie!
egotripper @ Apr 28th 2008 5:28PM
Interrociter inspired.
Spyvie @ Apr 28th 2008 5:39PM
What would've happened if the writer liked the design, would most of the comments in this post have been positive?
I kinda like it. It's a little over the top but it sure as heck isn't a copy of any other existing product.
Benson @ Apr 28th 2008 7:11PM
OK, I didn't comment 'til now (I thought enough bashing was going down), but just so you know, I would have commented negatively if they said one good word about it; I think it's a waste of space, which is a bigger crime than its looks to my way of thinking. Yep, I think fat's worse than ugly.
mrnico @ Apr 28th 2008 6:44PM
My question is, why the hell would anyone seriously ever consider a 15 inch display for anything in their home? That is even too small for a bathroom TV, much less any computer.
Laughing Man @ Apr 28th 2008 7:32PM
I think you guys are all wrong. I think the TV has some style and flair. I see this being bought up by all the art students around the country. I would buy it because I like my tech black, shiny, and smooth.
Still ugly is a harsh word for this TV.
It is a TV, right?
mrnico @ Apr 29th 2008 10:37AM
No, at only 15", it is NOT a TV. It is a small, useless trinket.
Michael @ Apr 28th 2008 7:48PM
anyone catch that 99 pounds does not equal 197 US dollars? It equals 154.
Michael @ Apr 28th 2008 8:00PM
I don't know where (or rather from what decade) you're getting your exchange rates from... but the pound is worth almost twice as much as the dollar right now. $197 is pretty much spot on.
numbsock @ Apr 28th 2008 8:00PM
looks like a weird sittind dog thingie
citykids @ Apr 28th 2008 8:09PM
Who at Hannspree keeps green-lighting these products?!
Kevin-Mahalo @ Apr 28th 2008 8:40PM
Ugly? What ugly with this LCD Monitor? It is gorgeous, It is modern, It is techie, It is Artful... It is a HANSpree monitor!!! :)!!!
mrnico @ Apr 29th 2008 10:37AM
It is too damn small to be a monitor. And ugly.
hayley @ Apr 28th 2008 11:12PM
i think its cute, looks like an animal with the face as the screen..
russdogg @ Apr 28th 2008 11:23PM
Nah, this totally looks like when my dog runs across the lawn with just his front paws to wipe his butt.
Laughing Man @ Apr 29th 2008 1:28AM
Actually that is a sign that you dog might have worms or some kind of infection. You should like, look into that or something.
And I can so see this TV at my friend with the weird shaped furniture buying this.....you know I should tell him about this. Would send the link, but he is one of those nature art people who don't seem to believe in technology and all drive ECHO's
Richard @ Apr 29th 2008 5:50AM
At least someone is experimenting, beats the hell out of all the "lets copy Apples warped view of style and remove all functionality and any signs of buttons and make is shiny and bland".
mrnico @ Apr 29th 2008 10:38AM
Well, then they need to make it big enough to actually use.
Joe T. @ Apr 29th 2008 3:50PM
I like it. I bought my son a HANNSpree set not long ago. The design was a huge hit. That said, I wouldn't put one in my family room (too small), but for a small set in a bedroom or kitchen they're fantastic and more interesting than the bland, generic safe styling of most of the plastic sold at BestBuy.
Barbara Hayes @ May 3rd 2008 1:58PM
I actually already own this set and think it's great.
These artsy, fun and funky little Hanspree sets are great for guest rooms, laundry rooms, kids room and kitchens. I'm ordering my fourth different design soon.
I'll bet most of you like boxy beige phones and computers and are total left-brainers (accountants, etc.) I feel for you.
rrod @ May 20th 2008 2:44PM
Not that bad. I suppose a black or silver rectangle is a work of art?
