Live shots of Sony Ericsson's Paris surface, Mr. Blur mysteriously absent
Enough of these overly pixelated, totally fuzzed-out captures of something supposed to Sony Ericsson's Paris -- we're looking at the real deal now. This definitely sexy slider has somehow fell in front of someone without hands a-shakin', and a smattering of distinct images are waiting just below in the read link. If you just like to be teased, the snapshots show a 5.0-megapixel camera and confirm that the keypad touts a two-character-per-button layout similar to the P1 -- but really, there's nothing like seeing it for yourself.

Yummy. So many good phone coming out this year.
Ace b @ May 8th 2008 12:29AM
Yea,that's an understatement.
I'm thinking E-Mobile should do a best of the best comp to narrow it down from the best smarts, best touch, and best etc cell phones all coming out this year. That would make things a little easier.
Louis @ May 7th 2008 11:34PM
Finally SE coming out with a upgraded range, do we know if it will have wifi?
NightBlade @ May 8th 2008 7:58AM
Deffo will.
CharlieX @ May 7th 2008 11:44PM
I don't know... isn't 5 megapixels with a crappy composite lens and miniaturized optic pickups going to be a waste? Sure, the PR of saying you have that many megapixels is great, but 5 *fuzzy* megapixels isn't worth much to me.
Ph30nix @ May 7th 2008 11:54PM
except that Sony Ericsson makes fantastic phone cameras. Hence the reason why the CyberShot line of phones exist.
CharlieX @ May 8th 2008 12:07AM
I guess my GF had a super slim cybershot... it takes pretty darn good pics.
strike me down. I might stand mistaken
Ruben @ May 8th 2008 12:09AM
When someone buys a phone, they usually buy it as a phone. If you want a camera, then get one. Why complain about something that is a "freebe"? This isnt even a Cybershot series phone, so theres no reason to knock on an already high 5MP shot, most likely on a Carl Zeiss lense.
You could always tape this to the back of a A300.
Steffen Jobbs @ May 8th 2008 12:42AM
5MP is generally is a waste. There is more to getting good photos than just pure pixel count. People just like to brag that their cameras have a 5MP camera whether it makes that big a visual difference over a 3.2 MP camera or not. It's that "Mine is bigger than yours" syndrome. As you said, if you really want decent pictures go buy a pro camera instead.
gad get @ May 8th 2008 1:19AM
Tiny sensors like these have enough trouble getting sufficient light, and often end up capturing a useless blurry mush or a hideously noisy image, depending on how they attempt to compensate (long exposure= blurry, boosted sensitivity= noisy). The higher the pixel count you cram onto such a small sensor, the worse the effect will be, as each pixel is smaller and so gets less and less light to try to make something of. So, 5 megapixels on a camera-phone is really a ridiculous gimmick and only serves to make it all the more difficult to get a decent shot.
Now, someone's probably going to say, "if you want flawless photos, why even bother with a camera-phone at all? Camera-phones are for those times when you need to grab a quick pic, and aren't carrying a clunky P&S or SLR with you."
Yes, they are (or should be) for those quick take-what-you-can-before-you-miss-your-chance shots. So, it's all the more annoying when the pictures come out blurred to death.
Sorry, I'm a photography enthusiast.
gad get @ May 8th 2008 1:21AM
@ Ruben
It ain't a "freebie." You're paying extra for it.
Jordan @ May 8th 2008 3:33AM
Mines bigger than yours.
MSM @ May 7th 2008 11:45PM
Yes Louis ofcourse there will be WiFi
The previous one (P990i) has it but is limited to 802.11 bands A, B
This one should have G (for a faster connection)
We also expect a 3G, HSDPA, GPS and works around the world
James B. @ May 7th 2008 11:45PM
Wait.. Is Mr. Blur the CEO of Sony?
Oh...
Right..
I'm too tired.
darkstar @ May 7th 2008 11:49PM
think RIM would ever make a slider??
this is actually the first sony phone i would want to buy!
gad get @ May 8th 2008 6:43AM
Only a matter of time.
j @ May 8th 2008 12:15AM
That's hot!
AustinF @ May 8th 2008 12:57AM
That is a sexy phone. Tasty.
gad get @ May 8th 2008 6:45AM
THAT turns you on? Fetishists like you really creep me out.
Prezzie @ May 8th 2008 1:07AM
Sony jumping on the HTC Juno bandwagon eh?
Not that that's a bad thing, 'cause it's looking damn good...just hope it has 3G, and Wi-fi, and better battery life...
bizzLebozzLe @ May 8th 2008 1:10AM
good frekkn' job se... you had me at 5mega pixel
Al @ May 8th 2008 1:17AM
micro/mini USB jack?
3.5mm headphone jack?
L @ May 8th 2008 4:24AM
We're talking about SE here...obviously all proprietary cr*p like FastPort and MemoryStick Micro.
gad get @ May 8th 2008 1:30AM
"Mr. Blur mysteriously absent."
Funny. They allude to the blurred photos too often associated with sneak peaks like this, then turn around and heap praise on this thing's 5 megapixels. You know why those photos are always blurred? Because people use crappy (see above reply to CharlieX) cell phone cameras like this to take the shots!
L @ May 8th 2008 6:56AM
Funny fact: those pics above were taken with a N95 8GB...
gad get @ May 8th 2008 7:27AM
You're not helping!
gad get @ May 8th 2008 7:29AM
Seriously, though... what does that prove?
gad get @ May 8th 2008 7:30AM
...Even if it is true.
Tim @ May 8th 2008 2:28AM
Methinks this is the donor model for the fake 3G iPhone picture, same shape exactly...
Mam00th @ May 8th 2008 6:50AM
That's exactly what struck me with this phone
Alexis @ May 8th 2008 4:10AM
The buttons are similar to the P1i, but even more similar to the m600i...
carbonrain @ May 8th 2008 9:22AM
look at the surface of paris, that is pretty sexy.
seems easy to use, too. i'd get one, but that will probably cost me
a lot of money. the phone isn't bad either.
terry @ May 8th 2008 9:26AM
Give me a break!
This is just another variance of the same stuff they put out. Like their walkmans from the past and them headhones(MDR any one).
NightBlade @ May 8th 2008 9:28AM
How is this the "same stuff"?
J @ May 8th 2008 9:38AM
Is it just me?? Does anyone else find these keypads to be impossible to use for texting? It's not laid out like a QWERTY keypad, and its not laid out like a telephone. It's some weird, unusable hybrid. Just wanted to know if I was the only one...
It's a nice looking phone though...
NightBlade @ May 8th 2008 1:30PM
This type of keypad with "rocker" keys is actually a breeze to use. Seriously.
MBS @ May 8th 2008 11:08AM
Wait this can't be right... No comment about ripping off a certain fruit branded product yet?
Do they all sleep in late?
Jason @ May 8th 2008 1:52PM
I agree with NightBlade, these keyboards are awesome, I wish more phones had them.
My m600i is sitting doing nothing while I use an N95 from work right now, but I really REALLY miss the keyboard. I find I use the N95 less as a result despite the wireless.
This seems like a slimmer N95 with a great keyboard. I'm sold.
msm @ May 8th 2008 3:52PM
ok...I seriously hate to be the grammar nazi here, and I fully expect to be ranked down in like a second, but shouldn't
"This definitely sexy slider has somehow fell in front of someone without hands a-shakin..."
be "This definitely sexy slider has somehow FALLEN in front of someone without hands a-shakin..."
?
Unless I'm grievously mistaken.
