Android Installer simplifies installation on Nokia N810
Heads-up, hardy hackers. Those of you too timid to put Android on your N810 the hard way now owe somebody a (big) hug, as the Android Installer makes installation a lesson in simplicity. We won't bother rehashing the play-by-play in this space, but suffice to say all the hand-holding you need is just one click away. Just be aware that this method was only tested in Diablo, so you're on your own if starting in anything else.

Or when Google official releases Android, can I install it on my HTC Touch Diamond
but touch flow 3d looks so nice.
thank you wery much
Once WiMAX is deployed here in Baltimore and DC this year (http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/18/sprint-turning-on-wimax-in-baltimore-in-september-chicago-and-d/ ), I was considering getting a WiMAX device depending on what the rates would be. The N810 WiMAX edition is something I was eying (which I believe is now out: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1393066&highlight=wimax) . Now this is yet another reason to consider picking up a N810 WiMAX edition.
Thank you for citing sources.... You get an F though for not using the correct format.
Other than novelty, is there a reason to do this? Is the Nokia's OS really that bad? Is the unfinished Android that good?
The N800/810 2008 O/S is really quite nice.
At issue at this time is that the latest o/s upgrade has major changes and about 95% of the software apps cannot be launched as such apps need rewrites. I recently failed to relaunch Pidgin and MPlayer etc. so am awaiting updates from all the idividual companies issuing these programs.
So if a stable version of Androi was available it might make headway.
That's not true, Ian. Diablo is 99% compatible with Chinook. Just add Chinook Extras to your application catalog until Diablo Extras gets repopulated. :)
No, ITOS isn't that bad; the people who don't like it and seek other interfaces/OSes mainly go with KDE on ITOS, or full-blown Debian as a dual-boot or chroot environment; to get ordinary PC apps (and interface, which means almost all stylus and no fingers...)
Android actually is seen by some as promising an even better finger-friendly environment at some point. But definitely not now; it's a hacker thing, and we're hackers; what can I say? ;)
Android,
Please hurry. My phone is dying and I really want you to replace it.
Take your time Android...
I tried the Apple iphone. I can't stand it. I ain't touching that with a barge pole, even though I love Apple and everything they stand for.
But please someone bring out a phone with the same look as the Dell Axim 50v (like Apple did) but with a jog dial. I liked the touch screen like on my Dell Axim 50v but, would really like jog dial like on the Sony Clie's and their earlier phones.
Wow, i can't believe that in only a cople of weeks and ago this was just a idia that i was sharing with two other forum members- panguinbait and qwerty12 on internettablettalk.com, and now this has gone all across the web!!! It all started when a member sent me a message requesting a simple install for android and i decided to try it out so, the next day i contacted two members, qwerty12 and panguinbait, to see if thay could help out and i did resherch, panguinbait did the packaging and, qwerty12 did the kernel building and compiling. So a special thanks to qwerty12 and panguinbait on internettablettalk.com
Sorry about the typing errors, i was overy excided :p
As always! ;)
I find this completely pointless.
1) The N810 Garnet OS was already running smoothly, is very optimized for the device and has much better functionality than this half baked Android with no 3rd party apps.
2) The Final Android OS isn't out yet.
I'd understand if a super slow WM was running on it. I'd understand if there were actually any other apps out for Android, but this is really pointless. The Webkit browser on it isn't even the latest one shown. And is there a YouTube app on this one?
I guess I means the 2008 OS, not Garnet... anyway there was nothing wrong with it to begin with replacing it on the N810. Neither is anything special out for Android yet... so it's pointless.
Chalk this down as a mere hobby most likely and just being be able to do it I guess. Hell I flash my tytn ii on a monthly basis with cooked roms for better usability and just for fun. I'm sure these guys are doing the same.
Yet despite my love and hate for WM, I still wouldnt replace it for Android, in my opinion it will just be a fad os that will eventually die out. And if it doesnt hooray for google, but either way still wouldn't use the os untill it becomes supported with third party apps, developers, and etc.
IT2008 works fine, but things like this just show how flexible the IT is. Trying something new in awhile isn't a bad thing :)
If anything is FASTER than windows mobile (most are), this will be a good thing!
TareX, give it a chance, there ARE third party applications out for it and it IS fairly responsive.
just go to internettablettalk.com, go to forums, click on Alternitives and, click on android. then you will see the point.
It'd be nice if pda and similar makers go open and make the idea of dual booting different OS's, but I can keep dreaming
I really feel like shoving a macbook up your ass and seeing your reaction...
I'd sure like it if someone could get Android to run on my languishing Nokia N770...
Or my N95
GTFO.
WTH, i clicked reply to ocean at the top, and ended up in a thread of my own. this comment system FTL.
Well, I run a quad-boot on my N800.
But Nokia tablets are about the only things you can do it on.
What OS's?
@CUBSWILLWIN
Use an Air.. Much sharper..
I want Android now, I'm sick of waiting.
