iTunes 7.7 available now, remote control application confirmed

iTunes 7.7 is now available over software update. According to the release notes:"Use iTunes 7.7 to sync music, video, and more with iPhone 3G, and download applications from the iTunes Store exclusively designed for iPhone and iPod touch with software version 2.0 or later. Also use the new Remote application for iPhone or iPod touch to control iTunes playback from anywhere in your home - a free download from the App Store."
Now, if only the App Store was available for our free, Remote control download... tap tap tap.

Update 2: Mac and PC direct downloads now available.
Update 3: According to MacRumors, 7.7 also appears to add Nike+ integration for the iPhone -- a move long rumored and now seemingly confirmed.

Hrmm, well I'm running it now and if 19MB of RAM and 0.7% CPU (whilst playing) is bloat maybe you should just go back to running DOS....
Still better than the 95% bloat and 95% resource hog Office 2008 for Mac is...
iTunes under OS X is lean and fast. iTunes is slow and resource hogging under Windows. Office is fast under Windows...and is feature crippled, slow, and resource hogging under OS X. Its a tradeoff...live with it. Life goes on.

Absolutely right...When I click on the update button it says that i am using the latest version. I guess we might have to wait a day more for that update.

Texas here, no go, but I can wait since I don't have an iPod anymore. Gave it away and went Archos for freedom!
However, I think the iPhone 3G will draw me back in... However, I will still limit my iTunes usage, keeping my Archos as my head honcho!

And so begins the late night hours of RIM/MS/Nokia/Samsung engineers waiting to get a piece of the pie. Many nights will be lost from these Engineers as they shake their heads in disbelief. The task put forth to them by their clueless masters seems to be an insurmountable goal. Its going to be a difficult year for these "me too" companies.
Its only available for Macs at the moment.

you gotta update through software update. itunes kept telling me 7.6.2 was the current version but when I opened software update 7.7 was available.

That page does say 7.7. But the installer still says 7.6.2.9
Yeah, i tryed to download the 7.7 setup file and all it did was to install 7.6 etc, so i tryed again 5 min after, and now 7.7 is bein installed!
It's also available for Windows @ apple.com/itunes/download.
Got It! Restarted And Used The "Software Update" Under The Apple Logo Menu. "Check For Updates" Didn't Work In iTunes.

Australia has it. Looks the same but with a few extra preference options [has the internet radio option always had a "set" button that appears not to do very much?]

Looks like they are slowly bringing 7.7 out on the apple website. The download itunes now link says 7.7 but gives you a download for 7.6. Guess I should just wait for the update to roll out for PC.

Looks like 7.7 also includes references to Nike+iPod under the iPhone preferences. Perhaps the accelerometer will be put to good use with a Nike+iPod app on the app store tomorrow?
Did anyone download the mobileme plugin from live gear today? I did and just checked it again and can't seem to log back on. It is saying wrong password. Must be waiting for the update.

Yep its not out for PC, downloaded it and it said Itunes 7.6.2 in the installer, and when i went check for updates it said it was the latest version. What the hell?
I downloaded it like 30 minutes ago for PC and it says 7.7.0.43

Im from texas(dallas). I tried updating apple software update and it doesnt show up there, you gotta go to their website and download it. Anyways on my itunes the application store doesnt show up? do you need to be an AT&T customer for that, i mean I dont think that should matter though. Im with tmobile and I syncd my unlocked/jailbroken Iphone(its still working fine nothing happened to it with itunes 7.7) and I dont see the applications store though

The App Store is up! I just downloaded iTunes 7.7. Went to Preferences -> General and checked the Applications box. And BOOM I can click on it and go in a download stuff! Sweet :)

rob....yah...you can download apps, but they don't show up in the ipod/phone. You need the 2.0 OS....unless you know something I don't....

Interestingly with 7.7, I notice once you select the applications button in preferences, when you click "get more applications" in the Application Library, you can actually go to the store page and download the apps and buy them if you want....but without the 2.0 OS, I guess you can't do anything with them

How come I can't upgrade to 2.0 even though I have iTunes 7.7? Please advise.
I've downloaded and installed Remote. It can see my library (it notices if I change its name) but later it'll say it cant find the library... strange...
The look of phones is checked. My wifi network is working fine... any ideas?
