Wow, he sounded boring, like he was reading everything without his will...

"Kwairty"? I've never not heard it pronounced "kwurty". Guy should hang around more computer dudes IRL.
Hung @ Jul 16th 2008 1:47PM
"Hi, my name is Zorque and I'm going to criticize the way someone pronounces a non-standard-English word that lacks commonly established colloquial pronounciation. Also, it's apparent from my acronym usage that i iz da oober at da WoW." -Zorque
Zorque @ Jul 16th 2008 7:11PM
I don't play MMOs, and I wasn't criticizing. I was just noticing how I've never heard it pronounced that way. I'll give you a 2/10 for effort, though.
Matthew C @ Jul 16th 2008 7:31PM
I'd say fail, but its kind of implied.

1"x6"x9"... That's the perfect size for a netbook.
And 8-hour range is just right.
But 800x480 8" screen seems wank.
Keaton @ Jul 16th 2008 4:23AM
Its funny how the "unboxer" has trouble opening the box...
Kevlar @ Jul 16th 2008 4:34AM
No, you fail. Seriously. You missed it by 19 minutes. Shut the hell up.

This is an almost perplexingly rubbish product. It costs significantly more than an eeepc 701 4g, and offers only improved battery life for your money. What it lacks is any sort of operating system at all, bar that from your phone. It will clearly struggle with any phone that does not have explicit new drivers made for it, and will so be incredibly dependent on ongoing support from the manufacturer.....
If you want a netbook sized device to look at your emails whilst on the move....buy a netbook.

The funny.

Why on earth is he high-ranked? :S
derX @ Jul 16th 2008 5:19AM
...urgh, some people just can't grasp humor.
You forgot Doom and frikin' lasers, though.
Oh, and that's what she said.

he sounds like a cross between forrest gump and steven hawking
wraith808 @ Jul 16th 2008 8:24AM
Sounds like Dan 'The Man' Levitan from Good Morning Vietnam. Where's Adrian Cronauer when you need him.
Darrel @ Jul 16th 2008 9:15AM
This is WAY too much $. I got excited when I heard about it, but sans larger screen & touchpad, I can do almost the same thing on my Tilt w/touchscreen with the "iGo Stowaway Ultra-Slim Bluetooth Keyboard" I got on clearance for $40. (that's the official name of it off Amazon, otherwise can be hard to pin down - might be discontinued)
Matt @ Jul 23rd 2008 4:12PM
Which driver did you use with your iGo Stoway for the Tilt? It's not listed on the site and Thinkoutside disavows using it with Windows Mobile 6 as they have not built support for it yet.
architect.zero @ Jul 16th 2008 11:49AM
I still like the "mobile companion" concept, but the execution, both Palm's and Redfly's, is sub-par. Not outright shite, just not good enough to make them compelling.
The deal breaker in this case is the price vs the price of a full-fledged netbook. If this thing was $150, it might be competitive, but at $499? Hahahaha... they're dreaming.
Speaking of which, why isn't it $150, or even $100? The boast that it has "no CPU"* and no storage. It's basically a battery, small keyboard, crappy screen, bluetooth radio, several ports for connecting it to various things, and a lobotomized embedded OS all running on some sort of ultra-low-cost system-on-a-chip thing.
There's probably more tech in a $149 Nintendo DS than in this pile of parts.
The only way that this concept will get off of the ground is if it's brought to market by a company that can leverage economies of scale to get the price down to where it really needs to be. However, right now those companies are focusing on netbooks.
BigTeebo @ Jul 16th 2008 12:42PM
Can we please stop with the unboxing videos/photo sets? They really say nothing about the product and moreso about the dull packaging. It's what's inside that counts.
I love the VGA connector on back. I always carry a 17 inch CRT monitor in my pocket when I'm on the go.
Go and let Celio fail on a product that even Palm realized was an incredibly poor choice, especially in this world of the EEE pc(and its competitors).
Hung @ Jul 16th 2008 1:51PM
Yeah. But what about that fact YOU NEED A WINDOWS MOBILE PHONE TO RUN IT?
I love WM and all, but it'd be a lot cheaper to just buy a bluetooth keyboard.
Hung @ Jul 16th 2008 1:52PM
Awww, reply system sucking it up hard.
joe blow @ Jul 16th 2008 3:11PM
Hey, a Palm Folio for Windows Mobile. Neato. Effin idiots.
bjay @ Jul 16th 2008 6:47PM
$499 for what? Celio must be filled up with dreamers. Though if it catches on (which i doubt) maybe the big companies can step to reduce the price.
BTW netbooks FTW
Dagon @ Jul 23rd 2008 5:08AM
Seeing as your windows mobile is about as powerful as an eeepc type clone thing this would be a great product: lighter, smaller, easier to carry around, lower boot times.
If it was at all reasonably priced.
I still don't understand that people who love the eeepc type clones have such a hate on for the Foleo.
