Kingston sprinkles 16GB models into DataTraveler line, launches DT101
Nothing too fancy from Kingston Technology today, just a couple of more capacious flash drives and an all new one for good measure. For starters, the DataTraveler 400 with MigoSync software and the DT100 are both now available in roomy 16GB flavors. Meanwhile, the DT101 arrives on the scene with security software, capacities up to 8GB and in cyan, pink and yellow hues. Each of the newcomers should be available now, with the 16GB DT400 demanding $196, the 16GB DT100 costing $85 and the DT101 line ranging from $14 to $44.

I just got a Patriot Razzo 16gb drive from Newegg for $54 shipped :)
Unfortunately, 16 gig drives only contain 14.9GB usable space! I thought we were past all this....

Be smart, Micro Center's own brand 32-gb usb stick if for a solid 100 dollars, but if you don't have a Micro Center near your proximity then you fail.

A month ago I purchased a Kingston 8GB USB drive from Futureshop (Best Buy) for only $19.99, regular price now is $29.99...
Its not as fast and as fancy as these, but 8GB for $20 just to back up your computer...good deal...

Why SSD is so expensive while Flash Memory is so cheap?
Jon Doe. @ Jul 25th 2008 12:32AM
different types of memory.

SSD's are a very new product so the prices of manufacturing is higher than flash memory. In the beginning of flash memory, I wouldn't dare to waste my 30 dollars for an 128mb stick.

I'm stuck on Sandisk. I like the retractable plug and the lanyard so I can hang it around my neck. I can usually find a pretty good deal on them. I don't know if they're the best, but they've always served me very well.

Old news, at least for the DT101! I sell these already some weeks now. They are widely sold here in Thailand and prices are the same for DT101 and DT100. If you are interested, check USB4ALL.NL Dutch only, but prices in euro includes worldwide shipping. I can ship the 8GB DT101 for 24.99 euro anywhere. I'm not advertising, just commenting on 'news' of products that are already available many weeks!
