Looks like that
Apple event for the Tuesday, the 9th of this month is on. We know it'll be new iPods (they always do iPods for the fall / holidays), but hopefully they'll have a little something special for us. Whatever, just as long as it's not that round, awful looking nano. Go on, hit the comments and get speculating.

First to what, fail? You didn't even come in first for that, dolt
Jeff @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:30PM
New iPod Boombox cause it was so damn popular!
lu1de @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:06PM
glass touchpaded macbook pros!
Jeff @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:13PM
Why must you reply to the first comment to get on top?
SirPasta117 @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:15PM
lol its what i do sometimes!
KarlW @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:19PM
I'd actually like that. I've been trying to find an iPod HiFi, but they don't charge the iPhone 3G for some reason.
Kevin Moon @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:23PM
What are you guys talking about???
Ignatius @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:23PM
If I remember correctly, they removed the Firewire spec from the iPhone 3G, so you can't recharge it from those docks... correct me if I'm wrong though, since I know some Apple fanboy no doubt will.
Eric @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:35PM
Someone will correct if you're wrong, not because they're a fanboy haha.
Quix @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:02PM
My speculation: no matter what Apple announces, the Engadget comments section will be overrun by Winbots and Redmond astroturfers ranting about Apple fanboys, how crappy iPods are, and how the "awesome" Zune is the obvious choice for the counter-culture rebel.
Wiigee @ Sep 2nd 2008 3:07PM
@ Staff Ever hear of Android? Linux based!!!!!!! It can have almost anything you want without Apple to hold you back. Same with the Open Moko Freerunner, totaly open and complete freedom, not restricted by Apple. You can change whatever you want to, probably hack it to run TF2 if you had the time and skill.
eric @ Sep 3rd 2008 12:58AM
Maybe this is just speculation but the ipod in his hand in oddly longer than it is wide.
kccboy2004 @ Sep 2nd 2008 4:28PM
@Engadget staff.
You suck
kccboy2004 @ Sep 2nd 2008 4:33PM
does anyone think that Apple might announce that they are going to take the iPhone out of Alpha testing ?
everyone complains sooooo muuuchhh about Apple. why does Apple have such a bad name ? why do people buy Apple stuff when Apple has such a bad name.
enmanuelmc @ Sep 2nd 2008 7:52PM
the corners are round.. it's definitely the ipod we saw before!!! =D
I just hope they release the new macbooks, as well
Rig @ Sep 3rd 2008 9:57AM
Cool, I am a counter-culture rebel apparently.
mymaclife @ Sep 3rd 2008 10:47AM
Apple have announced that they will be releasing a press release about an announcement regarding and the event where an announcement will be made.
GB @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:32PM
64GB touch for £299
New nano(like we didn't already know) and Zune intergration on iTunes
GB @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:44PM
I was kidding! Fanboy
Bender Bending Rodriguez @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:49PM
I love these pointless speculative posts! If 32GB exists then 64GB must be next, right, but that would mean that it would require 2x32GB MicroSD size chips. They are about $350 each retail. Surely Apple could get them cheaper but Apple won't sell them for cheaper. The next thing I'd expect to hear is that you can buy a 128GB Flash drive for $500, which you can, but that is a 2.5" drive, which isn't going to work for the Touch. Unless Apple decides to use more than 2 chips for storage, or use a 32GB and 16GB in each bay, don't expect a Touch 32GB. It looks like only the Nano will be getting any real changes this time around, with the others getting a price drop.
Bender Bending Rodriguez @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:50PM
oops, "...don't expect [anything larger than] a Touch 32GB..."
SirPasta117 @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:15PM
"zune has a measly 2 million users, why even bother?"
even if one sold they should have reason to add zune support
Because those 2 millions users are using Windows PCs, if they made iTunes Zune compatible then thats 2 million potential Mac buyers
Get the hell off these boards you fucking fanboy
SirPasta117 @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:56PM
LOL that troll got banned this has made my day!!! xD
roole @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:00PM
Why do you zune-people (e.g., SirPasta117) always sound so angry?!
phanbouy @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:30PM
i thought MS locked the Zune to WMP...
that said it'd be great if El Steve were to convince 'em to open the player up to other media players but don't see that happening ever
"Bob" @ Sep 6th 2008 1:35PM
@roole:
>Why do you zune-people (e.g., SirPasta117) always sound so angry?!
Because tattoos hurt.
Peter James @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:32PM
what i don't want to see are anymore mac minis..........they need to EOL that one
Randy @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:20PM
Why? I bought one in June and I love it. The only bummer (for me anyway,) is that it doesn't have the graphics horsepower to run some of the steam Games. But as a desktop for basic tasks like email, web surfing, movies, and even vmware! it's great.
grepme @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:39PM
the mini is a fantastic little box. could use a bit of a price drop.
Kelmon @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:37PM
Disagree. However, Apple does need to do something with the Mini. It either needs to be brought up-to-date or killed off.
Jakob @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:52PM
Would be great if Mac mini would be priced at 299-399 bucks like Eee Box. I would for sure buy one. But this is an iPod event, and I think Apple is gonna seperate Mac and iPod updates in.. yeaah seperate events.
Just one more thing: Toshiba is probably announcing a new 1,8" HDD with 200 GB capacitity, which will lead to new iPod classics.
Wiigee @ Sep 2nd 2008 3:11PM
Nah, they need to drop the price and bump up the specs. Minis rock! they just need to be a bit cheaper.
OnlyShawn @ Sep 2nd 2008 3:44PM
hook up a mini to your hdtv, and run plex on it, as well as pureftpd and dyndns for a 'static' ip and ftp access. vine server for vnc connections on the go, and a couple external usb drives to hold all of your data (ripped movies with handbrake) makes your data accessible from anywhere, and phenomenally well run when at the house.
splurge and get an elgato eyetv and hook that up as well, and you've got your dvr incorporated.
you'll not be thinking it sucks for very long.
Heshmati4 @ Sep 2nd 2008 6:06PM
^^^^ Holy Moly! ^^^^
Look at all those highest ranks!
lanejasper69 @ Sep 2nd 2008 9:19PM
Mac Minis rule for a small, easy to use media center and sure-the-hell beats any Win PC! Where have you been?
I have a pc laptop and my mini is far superior as a media extender, especially with an extra 1TB external next to it.
and NO, not a fanboy, I'm just saying your comment has no merit or you haven't tried a mac mini for this.
gfar @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:07PM
If they throw HDMI on a Mac Mini and give it enough power to decode 1080p from Front Row, I'll buy one yesterday.
rippinhonda @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:32PM
Too bad the screengrab isnt from the new taller screened nano...
TVGenius @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:12PM
That and whatever dolt Photoshopped that didn't get the reflections right. Look at the triangle behind the bottom foot, vs the reflection.
Prof. Frink @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:33PM
Woohooo, I've been waiting for this announcments
DaveUK @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:32PM
new MacBooks i think.
kevinm @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:00PM
Looks like a purely iPod and iTunes event from the image. But there might be a Macbook refresh on the Apple homepage.
jonnydean @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:36PM
will announce new macbooks, not on sale for another week.
konshuss @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:47PM
so is it *so* obvious this is a presentation of new, slightly different, shiny plastic overpriced garbage at an event thinly veiled as some kind of community get together that it's not even cool to point it out anymore? i guess the fanboys are at a point where it's like "we KNOW it's the same device, leave us be"
low rank your hearts out.
Garrett Williams @ Sep 2nd 2008 5:52PM
dude i really hope new macbook.....that would be great!
loconavi @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:34PM
Subscription service!
ninjit @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:46PM
Yep, I'd say music subscription service too.
I just hope they don't price it too much over the current Rhapsody packages.
$10 - $15 / month is about right IMHO
BreakThings @ Sep 2nd 2008 5:44PM
Looks like the subscription price may be as much as 2 dollars a day. I have heard rumor of $60/month O.O
