Remember the
iPosture? That little button-sized nano-sensor you attach to your body which then vibrates any time you slouch or strike a less-than-optimal pose? The one which supposedly improves your posture, making you look thinner and taller, feel more confident, and also doubles as a hot piece of jewelry? Well, it's available now for the pretty reasonable price of $89.95 with a free copy of "Young, Sexy and Healthy" -- which you were probably considering buying anyway. If you're one of those people who can never get enough of being nagged at over your seemingly minuscule flaws, this just may be the perfect device for you.

Oh no...
o29 @ Nov 11th 2008 10:13PM
If someone bought me this for a Christmas present, I'd probably never talk to them again.
There are easier and cheaper ways to alienate friends.
icepop4who @ Nov 11th 2008 8:26PM
it's one of those "useful but embarassing to have" things
like a penis pump

Correction: "Each of my hot female friends (which I have none of) needs two of those."
You're welcome.

"Young Sexy and Healthy"
That's porn, right?
That's the only way I can see justifying this purchase.
James @ Nov 11th 2008 9:47PM
90 bucks for a porn and something nobody is actually going to use?
You need to get laid if you think you can justify that.
Smileypanda @ Nov 11th 2008 10:21PM
Maybe it's interactive....
BobFromVegas @ Nov 11th 2008 8:37PM
This doesn't deserve the "i". Then again, this idea is so stupid that they'd need something to make it sell.
Make something useful, like idk, a diet that actually makes people thinner? Jees people are stupid.
iEye @ Nov 11th 2008 8:44PM
Don't worry, your time will come when everything will have an "X" preceding it...

fanboys make me lol.

BobFromVegas @ Nov 11th 2008 9:25PM
That wasn't meant to be an apple attack.
I was saying that atleast apple "i" products are useful and have quality.
This is stupid.
I mean, Intel i7. It deserves the i because it's actually useful.
lowdef @ Nov 11th 2008 9:40PM
sooooo anything with an "i" is useful??

At 6'4", I've got a bad habit of adopting bad posture as a pre-emptive measure for:
Talking to normal people
Walking through doorways made for normal people
Walking through department stores made for normal people
Getting in and out of cars made for normal people
Driving my car made for a normal person (the few rare occasions I've tried sitting up straight, my head is at the ceiling and the sun visor [which is flipped up, not down] cuts off my view)
Heck, the only thing I've found that gives me a reason to stand up straight is the presence of someone who's at least 6'2". All that slouching doesn't do my back any good though, so I'd love to have something that slapped me upside the head and forced me to maintain my posture.
o29 @ Nov 11th 2008 10:25PM
I'm 6'3" and I can definitely relate. I tend to slouch a lot just because it makes it a lot easier to interact with people without looking like an imposing skyscraper.
I'm sure I'll be paying for it in a few years, but so far I haven't had any back problems as a result.
Valicore @ Nov 11th 2008 11:08PM
My brother has the same problem, he's 6 feet + and is always slouching as to not be intimidating. I think this is great as a reminder for people who are used to doing that or tend towards that behavior, just to save them from getting a hump or damaging their backs.
Canoo @ Nov 12th 2008 8:08AM
I'm 6'3" and didn't think about it until now but I'd say I probably slouch quite a bit too. Can't say I have any back issues yet though... Knock on wood...
Justin @ Nov 11th 2008 11:55PM
Just another fucking scam to try and make money. What a joke!
Jeff @ Nov 11th 2008 11:57PM
I'm in! I have the posture of a gorilla!
slouchin in sv @ Nov 12th 2008 12:11AM
Does anyone know if there's an iMake project plan for this type of thing?
hbonwit @ Nov 11th 2008 10:13PM
Ditto! This would be great to make - and prolly cost much less.
How about:
Tilt sensor (mercury).
Timer (if you're less than a second, you don't want it activated)
Pager motor (vibrate instead of beep)
CR2032
linuxamp @ Nov 11th 2008 11:28PM
The question for a homemade (or even this production model) device is how to determine what is angle the device should consider "upright". The difference in people's chests and the length of the chain used are variable so it can't use a static angle as "upright".
Patriks7 @ Nov 12th 2008 1:17AM
Guys! Don't be fooled by this! They make you think it's something to keep you standing up straight, but in reality, it's a special GPS chip designed by Apple so they can control us and then take over the world! (You know.. something similar to Skynet).. So if you wear one of these, expect it to vibrate whenever you touch a Windows computer! Like that will matter though.. in a couple months, the "Alien" (read: Apple) Tr-iPods will start attacking us and destroy the world!
sinai @ Nov 12th 2008 2:30AM
i could totally use this, as i am a man of 5 feet, 10 inches, but look like i'm 5 ft cuz of my slouch. but $90? I'll wait til it hits woot like all other overpriced useful-but-not-worth-retail gadgets
Unique Gift Ideas @ Nov 12th 2008 11:49AM
Yeah, I really want to pay $90 for an ugly necklace that keeps me posted every time I start slouching. Are people really this stupid and self-conscious?
chi @ Nov 12th 2008 3:35PM
why not just make a free iphone app that does the same thing?
