[Thanks, Jesper]

Doesn't look that good.
'i' agree 'i' wish phone companys would stop copying apple iphones best bits touch screen, interface, simple design etc
this iphone knock off just as embarrassing as google g1 knock off
iphone for life, steve jobs is proud of me
You can't deny it runs well, but they really need to format the OS more efficiently for lower resolution phone screens. The menus are especially taxing on space that is unnecessarily wasted on menu items.
so they've got the touchscreen and the blackberry's trackball... definitely made in china
I was promised zombies...
I'll take one for the team. You're welcome, Engadget. Riot averted.
Hmmm, not bad but android @ low-res isnt for me.
lol google search.....ERROR!
awww shucks atleast google earth looks like a fun marble ^_^
Well its a start....a bad start, but at least more Android phones will be released.
It can only get better now.
*Fingers crossed*
That was... wild...
I liked the snake game, though, the new S60 versions are a bit too overdone.
Will the android UI ever look different from the one currently on the G1? I like it, I am just wondering.
The option to change the way android looks will be available in time
Theres no zombies...
engadget just stole some of my life!
Yes, WTF was the comment about "wait until the end" and "zombies" - I wasted 10 minutes ...
Eww, is that a clicky touchscreen?
I demand zombies!
I don't think that ticking clock could have been more annoying if it tried!
Looks to be some kind of emulated Android INTRD or something, not a full image. I dunno, it just seems like a real Android install should error out like that one does.
I think the OS was lacking a virtual keyboard. An error message occurred every time he clicked on a text box. It also had "dev tools" available under the app 'drawer'. Clearly it wasn't finished.
It seemed to run smooth though. Somehow, I expected much worse.
Just out of curiosity, how many of you like the whole clicking touch-screen thing? I personally find it really really annoying and I think it defeats a lot of the purpose of having a touchscreen, but I know a lot of people really like to have that tactile feedback.
I like the whole clicking touchscreen thing, personally I find it really annoying to just poke a screen without knowing you actually hit what you meant without looking.
...how do you use a clicking touchscreen without looking at it any better than a non-clicking touchscreen? Hah.
FAIL.
just relax :)))
Photo's hiding the digital time on purpose, eh?
This is like the coalition of the willing, but for Android.
Not bad if the device is dirt cheap, but I can't say I am too happy about being duped into watching the demo of a non-iPhone and NOT getting the Zombies I was promised!!!
I agree with both parts of your statement.
I actually pulled the scrubber back and played the end part again to make sure I hadn't missed it. I'm pissed.
Wow this actually runs very good. I thought the performance would be bad but this really is snappy. It'll probably be around 170$ which makes it very interesting.
No hardware keyboard? how?
So...
...when can we run Android on a Touch Pro?
if you ask me by now QVGA should be standard on non-smartphones (like Sony Ericsson)
HVGA for non-touch smartphones (Blackberry Bold)
and VGA for touchscreen phones (Touch Diamond)
Looks like there's a back button on the side, which I like. There's some kind of error that keeps popping up but I can't read it. Is that a crash dialog?
LOOKS AWSOME
what the hell are you talking about
Doesn't look quite finished. The android Virtual Keyboard is supposed to come in 2009 so I don't get why they made it with no hardware keyboard; it makes the phone basically unusable for anything requiring text entry. They should have at least made their own virtual keyboard.
Anyways all of these "unofficial" Android phones aren't really good choices because they don't have Android market and that's a major part of Android. Looks like it's also missing a lot of standard apps that come on the G1, like youtube, gmail, maps, im.
In the original article there are pictures of the phone running a SIP for Chinese characters. So you'd write on the screen rather than use some kind of keyboard.
Personally I can't wait to see the multitude of phones coming out which will have different form factors and designs, all running Android.
The joke's on us...we're the zombies. Good one Engadget...
LIARS, NEVER JOKE ABOUT ZOMBIES.
INTRESTING FACT; THIS WAS NOT MEANT TO BE IN CAPS, BUT MY COMPUTER IS STUCK ON CAP LOCKS AND NEITHER OF SHIFT KEYS WORK. ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO FIX THIS SO I DON'T FEEL I AM YELLING ALL THE TIME
@VICTOR: To quote someone else (Ross, perhaps): Kinda playing fast and loose with the word 'intresting' (sic)?
Maybe an On-Screen Keyboard could help?
give me your address, I will send you a keyboard
engadget always tricks people into getting people watch the whole video
you know that there will be no zombie at the end of the movie.
after the video fail your expectation (read: small screen resolution, a China phone, some error) then you starts to complain engadget.
Whats the big deal with always having to be blabbing whether it be with your mouth or phone ? Whats annoying is having to watch and listen to idiots who should spend their time far more constructively. Is it just self centered assholes who can't sit through a movie or dinner like 5 years ago and enjoy the company of the people they are with and not aggrivate those around them ? Enjoy your own thoughts once in a while. Its an addiction no better than smoking or drugs.
Sorry - what?
i heard to zombies... or maybe it was a crying baby in the background. with a creepy ticking clock sound to boot!
Ha. Engadget cant fool me. I read the comments to verify my fear that the zombies were a lie. Now what to do with my new found ten minutes of life? I could do something productive. Darn I just realized I spent ten minutes reading comments and typing this.
did anybody catch where this was filmed? listen closely, that familar slosh-slosh-slosh? A LAUNDRYMAT!
