Philips unveils Prestigo SRT9320 touchscreen universal remote

The last Philips Prestigo universal remote we saw was that gigantic SR-M80145 "tablet," but it looks like the company's toned it down with the sexy new Prestigo SRT9320. The company's new top-of-the-line IR-only clicker has a 2.8-inch color touchscreen and can be programmed to control up to 20 devices entirely from the remote itself without using a PC -- which can be a blessing or a curse, depending on your setup and macro situation. It's all yours for $249 sometime in the first quarter of twenty-oh-nine.

You can't put enough emphasis on touchscreens nowadays.

So, "Philips unveils touchscreen Prestigo SRT9320 touchscreen universal remote with touchscreen, bringing more touchscreen goodness to your living room" would have been even better, obviously...

Then again, and I am just stabbing in the dark here, you may actually be talking about 'reveal'..., the opposite of 'unveal', where you stick the strips of live calf flesh you just stripped of that baby cow with your teeth back onto it's torso...

Philips shouldnt be in any titles? or the word touchscreen appears twice?
I have an older philips universal remote that is absolutely horrible. If your looking to pick one up get the Harmony 1 its on sale for like 200 right now and it blows philips away.

Thats a sweet remote, its too bad it will spend most of its life lost somewhere in your home. Under the cushion, in the cabinet, or that mystery place it goes for a while and then suddenly reappears a week later.

I think mines been there a while, that or a binned it by mistake when drunk one day. all i know is i feel alseep with it beside me on sofa when i awoke it was gone...

Just get yourself a Logitech diNovo Mini and you'llnever need another remote.
Even if my HTPC setup includes a "Microsoft entertrainement 8000 laser wireless desktop" , I did'nt touch it in weeks. The diNovo mini does everything just as well.

$250? Haha, we got our Prestigo for $20. It looks cool and all, but it's hard to fast forward stuff on the VCR. The touchscreen shuts itself off right as the commercial ends and you want to press play, making you miss the beginning of the next segment and have to go back. I eventually just programmed the clickwheel buttons to be fast forward, rewind, play and stop. Makes things 1000x easier.

i'm still waiting for my ricavision side show remote! does anybody else even remember what i'm talking about? it's probably been 2 years since it was announced. between that and the D* HDPC-20 i'm never going to get the two devices i want.

I don't see how anything like this can compete with the Logitech Harmony series, unless it were to have better software on the PC than the Logitech crap. The nice thing about Harmony is that they have every device _ever_, thanks to a crowd-sourced database. Some of the more recent models are actually ergonomic. The bad thing is the PC software, which sucks for trying to do lots of customized layouts. Still, it's probably better than trying to do customizing on the remote itself.
