New T-Mobile Dash spotted in the wild, nothing really new about it

Remember that wild, all-black Dash we peeped a couple days ago? We have no intention of scuttling your hopes and dreams, but aside from a few cosmetic differences (they removed the aluminum front piece, the keyboard has been spaced out a little bit, and the OS has been bumped up to Windows Mobile 6.1) it looks like the 'new' Dash isn't all that new after all. But who cares if there's nothing revolutionary here? Just take a look at the bright side -- maybe this means we'll be seeing a new Manhattan sometime soon.

sad to see tmo trying to spitshine a turd instead of releasing any worthwhile smartphones to shore up their assortment of 4.

your whole motivation for that statement was just to hear a "thats what she said" wasnt it?
John @ Dec 25th 2008 11:23AM
With the XDAdeveloper 6.1 bios upgrade opera mini and edge I can smoke the Icrap 3g. I can't believe how pokey the Iphone seems compared to a upgraded dash with the immensely powerful 200mhz arm processor. I got my sister a MotoZine with my upgrade and am holding on to the 1.5 year old dash. I just wish it had a good camera.
Jason @ Dec 25th 2008 1:07PM
On the contrary. If it works...that would be new.
PenguinCarl @ Dec 25th 2008 2:35PM
Seriously T-Mobile wtf. Is it that hard to put a decent WM smartphone out there? I currently have a Curve but it's OS is bland and the phone itself is too 'business-orientated' for my tastes. I would love to see them come out with a version of the Touch 3G.
Derek @ Dec 25th 2008 2:40PM
All of you freakin' iPhone fanboys make me sick, just so you know.
Please die.
jason @ Dec 25th 2008 3:23PM
say what you want about the Dash, but I LOVE mine. it needs 3 things to be the perfect phone:
more memory
slightly faster processor
touch screen
i'm shocked that TMO would revise the Dash and not at least add a touch screen on....
John @ Dec 25th 2008 9:07PM
Nothing really special that makes me want to buy.

i have the 1st dash and i don't really like it at all, this doesn't look any better
Famous by Marital-Association @ Dec 26th 2008 7:43PM
I had the dash the first day it launched in 2006.
2...0...0...6
I used it until late October 2008, when I got my G1.
My dash was fine, and then it was really good after flashing it with the Kavanna WinMo 6.1 ROM.
BUT WHY THE HELL IS MY COMPANY RE-RELEASING THE SAME PHONE WITH NOT ONE HARDWARE UPDATE???
W...T...F...!!!!!!!!!
I hope this is just a media stint, for the sake a dear baby Jesus- poor baby Jesus in his swadling clothes; we sell phones not cars. The same phone from 2 years ago can't be resold in all black as a "new and improved" model. Our customers aren't that retarded anymore!
default.aspx @ Dec 27th 2008 8:28PM
That looks somewhat familiar....
CRACKisWACK @ Jan 4th 2009 12:49PM
I just got this new Dash and its OK... Its not something to be amazed about, but what makes it better than a lot of phones is that it will last. Unlike the G1 or Behold with crappy touch screens this phone is for someone who doesn't really want the most advanced phone on the market, this is a good choice. The G1 is overrated IMO, and the behold is a crappy mimic version of the Dare.
Btw for all u g1 whores---this has to be one of the ugliest desgines of a phone ive ever seen. What were THEY thinking when they made this... this should have been a nice sleek design with a full touchscreen not a piece of shit keyboard.
