Five quick tips for Aion (week 3)

Welcome to our third installment of "Five quick tips for Aion." The title is pretty self-explanatory so let's just jump right into things, shall we? This week's post features the trade broker, group recruitment, faster XP, rift locations, and custom signatures!

1. Quickly search the trade broker
It can get annoying typing out the full name of an item in the 'Buy' tab, especially when the names are all case-senstitive and can be quite long. Here are two quick tips to speed up the process.

a) If you have an item in your inventory and want to do a quick 'Buy' search to see how much it is selling for, simply ALT + Left Click the item in your inventory and the search bar will be auto-filled with the complete item name.

b) If you don't happen to have an item in your inventory but know its name, you can simply enter the first letter of each word (capitalized) in the search box. For example, you can search 'T S L J' instead of Thin Soft Leather Jerkin. Some item names share the same initials, so you can narrow the search by adding a second letter in lower-case. For example, 'M W F' will result in Major Weapon Flux and Minor Weapon Flux. If you only want Major Weapon Flux, search for 'Ma W F.'

2. Advertise your group
Are you looking for a few more people to complete your group? There's actually a way to create a chat link of your current group that might just help with recruitment. Simply click Menu > Community > Find Friend and look at the bottom for the 'Invite Chat Link' button. Initiate a chat message (e.g., Legion, /3 Group, Whisper, etc.), type out your message and then click the 'Invite Chat Link' button to tack your group's hyperlink on to the end of your message. You must put it at the end of your message because the button currently erases all your typed text (bug?). [Thanks Thulf]

3. Murder, death, kill!
I'm sure you've noticed by now that leveling takes some time in Aion. One easy way to speed that up is to create a wake of devasation wherever you go. Many people try to avoid NPCs that aren't related to quests or gathering journeys but this is the wrong strategy in Aion. If you see it and you are able to kill it, kill it; plain and simple. This will help disguise the grind that is currently quite apparent in the game (but hopefully to be reduced soon).

4. Bookmark your rift locations
Rifts are portals Asmodians and Elyos can use to travel to each other's PvE lands, so knowing where they are located is an excellent strategic advantage. Step one: Head on over to Aion Source and copy the code. Step two: Paste the code into your in-game memopad by clicking Menu > Community > MemoPad and then CTRL + V (paste). You may have a character copy limit, so just copy and paste the first half and then the second half in two steps if you run into this issue. Step three: Click a link in your in-game MemoPad to show the location on your map.

5. Create a character signature
Lots of people like to show off their character on forums, fansites, and social networks, so we thought you might find this one interesting. Check out AionSigs to create your own custom character signature. You can pick your favorite font, avatar face, and background image for visual appeal and even show off various stats (e.g., HP, STR, Abyss Rank, PvP Kills, etc.). [Thanks Jasdemi]

That's all we have for you this week. Please leave a comment if you'd like to share a tip!
