Keepin' it real fake, part CLXXVIII: Canon doesn't suck edition
You know what Canon doesn't make? Right, Vacuum cleaners. Obvious to us but according to the site English Russian, a large Russian electronics supplier recently bought what they believed to be genuine Canon-made Vacuum cleaners. Why not, after all, that logo slapped all over the manuals and device is a straight rip from the Japanese company. The KIRF-co even has the audacity to host a Russian site registered to Gold Space Inc. at www.canon-electonics.com (the official Canon Electronics site is canon-elec.co.jp) which, ambient music aside, is nothing but a portal into an empty consumer abyss. A call to the company's New York support number results in an "invalid number" recording. Surpising.

Lol, failed.
If they fake, why don't go with Apple and the logo, slogan "ultra stylish vacuum cleaner" or smt like that ?
Atleast only Russian's are buying it....
Which raises the question of why Canon doesn't make vacuums?
Well, you might as well say why doesn't Engadget write about cars?
AFAIK Canon only does AV and photography (including printing) electronics.
...to sweep up all their PowerShots with lens errors? :p
You guys write about hybrid cars quite frequently, I don't know what you're talking about. They may not be your focus, but I'm just being a jerk and splitting hairs.
Looks more like a Mars rover than a vacuum cleaner if you ask me.
Which is why it's about a thousand times better than YOUR vacuum.
With the new Canon vacuum cleaner,
You can...suck
You can
Canon
Cool drawing though.
Oh man that sucks.
-or doesn't, I don't know any more.
Whatever.
That reminds me of the time i saw that "Ferrari" laptop,
who are these "Acer" scam merchants anyway?
Make every sucks a PowerSuck!
In Soviet Russia, vacuum cleaner suck you!
How many megapixels? I have a big living room.
Before I realized it was a vacuum, I thought it was a remote control up skirt cam.
So can you stick your wee wee in that thing?
Does it make pictures of your junk?
lol stupid people for buying this
I thought it was a mobile coffee maker.
LOL, I mean it really looks hi-tech. Does anyone know how it actually performs? I mean, its wet or dry?, how many PSI?
Was the "Surpising. " misspelling an underhanded jab at the misspelled electronics in the bogus www.canon-electonics.com site?
Didn't Miles use this in Lost to find the ghost of a some guy in his bedroom?
Is this a robotic vacuum? Because I don't see a usable handle for vacuuming while standing. If this is some high powered robotic vacuum, I say f*** trademark law, I want.
I have a set of Canon speakers at home and they are great. This was mainly sold in Europe and when I used to work at HQ in NY, they sold off the remaining to employees real, and I mean real, cheap. They are awesome sounding and design. You never know what other things they may be into - a vacuum wouldn't surprise me...
Agreed- Product doesn't look half bad, and the owners manual looks pretty legitimate. Maybe not KIRF but abandoned overseas product.
