Dell's Wasabi PZ310 ZINK printer now available for $99

ZINK Imaging announces the fourth ZINK-enabled™ product
The innovative Dell Wasabi PZ310™ Ink-free Mobile Printer is the first product from the partnership between ZINK Imaging and Dell Inc.
Bedford MA., February 9, 2009 – ZINK Imaging, Inc. today announced the fourth product incorporating their ZINK™ Zero Ink™ Printing Technology, the Dell Wasabi PZ310™ Ink-free Ultra Mobile Printer. The Wasabi is available today online in the U.S. from Dell at www.dell.com/wasabi.
The ZINK Technology provides all of ZINK Imaging's partners, including Dell, with an ink-free technology platform from which they can launch a new generation of consumer electronics devices that are embeddable, mobile, simple to use, easy to maintain, and more respectful of the planet than any other printing alternative.
Powering these ZINK-enabled products is the award-winning ZINK Paper™. The patented ZINK Paper is an advanced composite material with embedded yellow, magenta, and cyan dye crystals. ZINK-enabled devices use heat to activate and colorize these crystals. The printing process is now radically simple.
The Wasabi is a pocket-sized mobile printer that produces borderless full color 2"x3" peel-and-stick ZINK Prints from a range of devices including digital cameras, camera phones, netbooks and laptop computers. Featuring a cutting edge design, the Wasabi represents the ultimate in mobility, enabling printing on-the-go, wherever you are – all in less than a minute. The product is available today in the U.S. and can be purchased at www.dell.com/wasabi.
"The Dell Wasabi is the fourth product available using the ZINK Technology, with many more on the way, including those capable of making larger prints," said Wendy Caswell, President and CEO ZINK Imaging. "The Wasabi joins the growing family of Dell products, like the Inspiron Minis, that are redefining value, personalization, and customization for connected mobile lifestyles."

Does it come with soy sauce?
Consumes a hell of ink !!
30 prints from one cartridge! (which is expensive)
There is no cartridge. The whole idea behind Zink is zero-ink. The paper is what is expensive.
Your an idiot. It doesn't use cartridges, it uses the paper. Try reading next time.
$30 a sheet? Well that's a whole lot better than cartridges.
It's inkless http://www.zink.com/how-ZINK-works
"Your an idiot."
LOL!

And BTW, if that avatar is your real picture, then you should look into plastic surgery.
Totally, it's a high paying career.
How about you look into jumping off a cliff? Stupid.
Paper refills, 24 sheets = $9, 48 sheets = $16
You can purchase refill packs in 10, or 30 count. 30 count you can get for $10. Figure around 35 cents per print with tax.
I've got the Polaroid Pogo version and it works well with my camera and computers via a Bluetooth connection. You can peel off the back as well, since it is a sticker.
Things to note:
- Takes about a minute to print
- Holds 10 pieces of the Zink paper at a time. (You refill when empty)
- You'll need to recharge the device after about 15-20 prints.
- Quality: This is meant for fun and not your gallery photo shoot. Still, I'm pleased with what I see.
These go on sale from time to time for $100.
Do you have to go through proprietary software to print from computer to printer or does it show up just like any other printer?
ZINK photo paper refills for the Wasabi are available only through dell.com. $11.99 for a 24 pack, $19.99 for a 48 pack and $29.99 for a 96 pack.
mod me down if you must, but unless i'm a teenage girl or an engadget dude, why would i need one of these?
I think it would make a great printer for keeping a photo journal. Maybe just travel stuff, maybe day-to-day stuff. The prints should fit in standard 3-hole punch inserts designed for business cards.
Most people I know share photos online, and photos they do print are done at home on a printer or thru a printing service. Can't think of many situations where you'd absolutely have to have the print right then and there on the spot.
I think
Pink Zink
Wink wink
The first nail in the coffin of the not-yet-released new Polaroid.
Because Polaroid does'nt cut it anymore?
on first glance it looked like the guy was michael cera.... but then when i clicked through, i was so disappointed :(
"it'll be made available in black, pink and blue hues."
Wasabi = Not green??? WTF?
She sure has a weird looking hand for a hand-model.
Hmm. Cheaper to get the Polaroid. I would rather support them than Dell (even though I have nothing against Dell). I think Polaroid deserves our business. We saw an end of an era with them. This is the new one.
I would love one of these, however 2x3 is not something that interests me. I would like 5x7 minimum. That would be a perfect size. I am sure it's going to take a bit to get there, but the technology seems very promising. If Polaroid is smart, they will expand it and better it as quickly as possible to get back in the game.
I hope they do. As for this thing - no thanks!
It's cool. I'm still waiting for memjet technology for the desktop. Just sayin'.
