Just in case you missed the
ASUS barrage from
earlier this morning, we'll bring you back up to speed while also showing off another fun gizmo the company drug to Hannover. The motion sensing
Eee Sticks were on hand at CeBIT, and in varying colors to boot. We were too bashful to get a video of ourselves playing in the demo rig the company had set up, but we're making it our mission to coerce other attendees to have a go and let us film them tomorrow. 'Til then, have a look at the stationary Sticks below.
Wiii!! Looks like fun?
I'm so glad you were here to inform us of this. You've got a keen eye.
I'll bet the next time Nintendo comes up with a revolutionary new controller design, the rest of the industry won't laugh them off...
(Sorry, I can think of no valid excuse for laughing off the Virtual Boy.) ;-)
excluding maybe the gamecube wavebird controller, all of Nintendo's controllers sucked.
@Trevor wow you have to be the biggest idiot I have ever seen.
NES-first to ever feature the game pad as opposed to a joystick
SNES-So significant in design that the layout of the D-pad, 4 X,Y,A,B buttons, start select, and the two shoulder buttons is ripped off to this day by everyone.
N64-Popularized the analog thumbstic and the idea of a trigger and pistol grip design.
GC-The gamecube's controller was a solid design.
DS/DSi-come on it is only the best selling handheld of all time.
Wii-what is more recognizable and ripped off than the wiimote it is such a revolution in the gaming industry it has probably single-handedly rewritten what is to come in the next generation of consoles
Umm, SNES pad?
SNES PAD WAS GREATEST CONTROLLER EVER BAR NONE
The Wiimote was the first motion sensitive controller in the same way the ipod was the first MP3 player.
IT WASN'T.
@Edz Your right it wasn't, but who made the motion sensing controller ubiquitous that has become like Kleenex is to tissues or Coke is to soda. The first device you are going to think of when you hear someone mention motion sensitive game controller is going to be the wiimote. It's all in implementation no Apple wasn't the first MP3 player, but it is the most iconic. The same is true for the Wiimote.
Boy, these guys are just going around ripping off everyone lately...
I dunno, i thought that keyboard was pretty cool.
Useless, but a good idea
I applaud Asus for bringing competition to market sectors where companies have such rabid fanbois that they refuse to accept anything could be better then their own specific brands.
well i chanage you to design the motion sensitive contollers that look like nothing at all on the market.
Coming up with new ideas is a hard job, your bound to rip of at least some one else some were.
Eee Wii
Whats wrong with the world?
Wii Eee for even more hilarity.
Or the WiiEEE! Pronounced sort of like a hysterical screaming sound.
this just reminds me of the shewee from Dragons Den...
Now, if they get a few good games developed for this (Eee bowling, Eee sports, Eee Fit) then they would have a viable alternative to the Wii!
So what games are compatible with this?
Dilution of a brand. What the hell is the Eee brand now? I'm just waiting for an Eee media player, an Eee phone, and perhaps an Eee blender and possibly an Eee Refrigerator.
I'm starting to think that Asus is using the EEE brand to replace the current 'Asus' one, because really the brand Asus, outside of components has little to no weight. So I guess they though they'd be better off starting from scratch.
If they're any good why should you care? Would calling them "ddd" appease you?
nah, ddd is still a little too big for my taste. I think a nice, full C is probably my favorite.
I'm starting to see how the economy ended up this way.
really, the bankers making impossible deals with money they dont have?
the destruction of confidence by fuckheads such as robert peston?
the inevitable instability of the economy after such a long boom?
What are you guys talking about?
The Eee Stick is nothing like the Wii's Nunchuk!
I mean... come on, are you blind? It's black!
Eee would like to pla...giar...ize
I see what you did there. +10 points.
What a wii'off!
*sniff* *sniff* I smell a lawsuit coming on
Yeah -- not to mention that Nintendo sued Nyko for making a wireless version of the Nunchuck that looked a little too much like the Big N's version. Now Asus does this? I can't imagine Mario will let this go unchallenged. Even though Wii games all fail. Except bowling.
Am I the only who read the title and thought of an EEE in a thumb drive form factor?
*raises hand* I did! :)
Can't wait to play Super Nario Universe!
its a wii - how are they not being sued
GATHER UP SOME NINTY REPS AND GET THEM TO PL,AY THIS WHILE YOU SECRETLY FILM THEM, THEN GET THEIR REACTIONS TO HOW IT COMPARES TO THEIR OWN NUNCHUCKS. that would be sick.
Why can't companies come up with original designs anymore.
MSI's new computers (X-Slim, X320, X340 and GT725) are exactly the same as MacBooks. Gigabytes new computers look just like iMacs. (I'm not saying everyone copies off Apple, because they obviously don't) These are a complete rip off of the Wii. Looks like Asus wanted a slice of Nintendo's cake.
Yeah and my new girlfriend looks just like your mum!
How weird is that?
Nintendo lawyers coming in 3.. 2.. 1..
Neat. I just don't see how Ninty won't get litigious over the "nunchuck" form factor.
My first thought was... Microsoft?
"...another fun gizmo the company DRUG up to Hannover"? Really? C'mon, I know this isn't a literary review, but....
I thunk you did good in English. (And for those waiting for me to point out the obvious: it's "DRAGGED".)
Is it me, or is Asus one of the least innovative companies ever?
