LG Xenon, Neon join Samsung Magnet and Impression on AT&T
Outside of the smartphone realm, AT&T's really stepping up its game in the feature phone game, too -- so let's take this clockwise from the top left, shall we? First up, we have the brightly-colored Samsung Magnet, targeted squarely at the teen audience looking for serious texting power in a cheap package. Pricing hasn't been announced, but it should be easy on the wallet; it'll be available in the next few weeks. Next is the Impression -- also from Samsung -- which we'd previously known as the a877, the very first handset to officially launch on a US carrier with a full AMOLED up front. The screen's 3.2 inches of organic touchscreen awesomeness, accompanied by a 3 megapixel cam and a full HTML browser, all launching on April 7 for $199.99 on contract after rebate. Down below, we have the LG Neon -- a phone that's already launched up north on Rogers -- offering a full landscape QWERTY keyboard in addition to a touchscreen display for a low price, thanks in no small part to its lack of 3G data. The launch day hasn't been set for this one, but it'll come shortly. Finally, we have the long-rumored Xenon, featuring 3G, a 2 megapixel cam, QWERTY slide, GPS, and your choice of colors -- black, blue, or red -- all for $99.99 when it launches on April 8.

The Neon looks like something from V-Tech you'd find in the toy department.
On Rogers its Black and Pink...donno where AT&T got barf green from.

i wouldnt mind having a xenon as my backup.
the harsh reality is this, iphone as low as $99. How can u justify buying extremly inferior cell at same $99 or 199 price here in usa. iphone is even killing other handsets sales on its own network ,att. who would buy any of these over iphone, exactly no one. Only uninformed would.agree??i wouldnt drop more than 1 penny on these. Mediocre on so many levels.,.,
I was having a debate with my employee about this.
iPhone has poor battery life under 3G.
iPhone has no mobile TV option
iPhone has no QWERTY keyboard
and until 3.0, iPhone won't have Flash, A2DP or copy/paste like many other phones do.
Simple thing is, Apple's aggressive marketing and luxury appeal keep people going to them for products with high build quality and poor feature sets.
I guess they'll call anything high build quality these days.
who would buy one of these? oh i dont know, maybe somebody that doesn't want to pay $30 for internet...i know it's hard for people like us to understand that there are actually people in this world that can live without internet and email at their fingertips at all time, but geez...how can you be so dumb to think that the iPhone is the right phone for everybody?
yeah if you want to play $1000 for service plan. Most of the time people has netbooks, iPhone and laptop with wi-fi card.. now that is a lot.. you need iPhone if you are into sales or support where internet connection is must 24/7..otherwise you don't want to waste money on data plan...
Man, you are just copying and pasting this same dribble in every cell phone story. It's the same word for word as the other story. Nobody cares.
only reason I would buy these phones is If iPhone had never been invented. Agree,,?
Just think about this. As long as the masses are willing to drop $300-$400, for just the iPod touch . iPhone will continue to be number one selling handset for years to come , especially when as low as $99. These phones don't stand a chance. I'm sorry to sat. Ask any att wireless store manager. In regards to $30 month data plan, even welfare recipients can afford that . Trust me I know too many for my own good.
what a moron
Seriously, is apple paying you? Why don't you go in the corner with your iphone because nobody cares.
That is so not an absolute! I will not pay $30.00 for internet on my phone. The impression isn't too bad followed by the xenon...but the others dont interest me at all! If welfare is paying for phones...sign me up!...Not
Can anyone confirm that the Samsung Impression A877 will have GPS?
who wants to buy iPhone
Xenon, Neon and Magnet... Could be Robert Rodriguez kids name!
i find it hilarious in a not really funny kinda way, that ATandT seems to get new three new phones a week and tmobile gets like three every a year.
Don't get the LG Neon, my wife just got one and the 'touch screen' capability is very deceiving. The only time the touch screen becomes active is to dial a number ... at no other time can you use the touch screen, for example to select menu items, etc.
its not exactly a touch screen. its touch dialing.
thats what people need to remember.
Any major cons about the Xenon that I should know about? I just orderded it and would like to know before it gets here.
Is that aswell with the xenon or just the neon?
As far as the Xenon’s touch UI goes, it’s pretty much par for the course—in fact, anyone who’s familiar with the touchscreen Vu will immediately recognize the same interface on the Xenon.
And while the 3G-enabled handset comes with the plenty of messaging features (mobile e-mail, SMS/MMS, and instant messaging are supported), streaming video/music downloads, and one-way video conferencing over the two-megapixel camera, don’t look for smartphone capabilities here—indeed, even LG reps are careful not to call the Xenon a smartphone.
