Samsung shows off Sprint's Instinct S30 (alias Instinct Mini)
No details are being offered just yet, but Samsung's Korean-language press service has slipped the first official shot of its Instinct S30 / Instinct Mini / M810 for Sprint. At first glance, the phone seems to be considerably more put-together than its older brother -- and if they've managed to iron out all of the software issues that plagued the Instinct's early days, Sprint might just have a winner on its hands. We're guessing this is going to be unveiled on a more grandiose scale by Samsung USA and Sprint any day, minute, or second now, so stay tuned.

how big is the screen the first one had a 3.1' screen so the mini must be a lot smaller. also if the screen is small doesn't it make the phone useless touch screen phones should have a decent size screen.
My Samsung rep brought one in to our store last week. The screen is the same as the original. Strangely, the whole phone was pretty much identical! The rounded edges are nice, and it's noticably lighter, but changes seem to be mostly ergodynamic. He also had the new Rant follow up, which was much more impressive. It sported a massive screen, and a dual slide keyboard like the matrix (just not as....y'know..... pantech-y).
It'll be nice in five years or so, when everyone has either a Windows Mobile, Android, or iPhone. Goodbye you garbage third-party OSes with your limited functionality, quirks and other nuisances.
while I equally dislike Samsung,LG, and Motorola trying to compete with their 2nd rate OS's, I must correct you in that they are making 1st party OS's like Apple (and Palm), they just aren't very good at it, 3rd party ones are made by Microsoft and Google, and a 2nd party OS is made by talented old you
Riiight...because what consumers need is fewer choices.
I cant imagine this screen any smaller!
Thats my biggest gripe about the Current instinct!
Also it freezes between transitions, and is a bit laggy.
And gimme multitouch.
speaking of the instinct... I thought sprint was touting it as the iphone killer.
now... we don't hear anything about it at all. whats up with that?
I know, right? They fooled me the first time around with this piece of shit phone. Now I'm stuck with an overpriced piece of junk.
overpriced?
got mine for $99.
because they compared price with new egg...
then downloaded new eggs rebate for the phone through samsung... so i got a check for $100
for the phone being completely free and expandable memory.. and able to handle ORB and Phone as modem (through a minor hack)
i couldnt have been happier....
Except the screen is too damn small and the mp3 players shuffle... only SHUFFLES once.. so it basically just make a playlist...
My friend has one and I hate it... it takes me forever to click on anything. The iPhone is much more user friendly.. and less glitchy. I hate to be a fan of it but its undeniable.
My first instinct? "Yawn."
looks very similar to something
yeah i think it looks like the eiffel tower, too
damn. forgot the link. whatever. i meant it looks similar to the nokia 5800
Da hell wit this..i wanna see the Instinct 2 (Samsung Dash i believe)
That's a joke right?
its called Instinct S30 and has a 3.2-inch screen. I am hoping it will be good than its predecessor. found from

Hopefully Sprint won't tout this one as an iPhone killer like they did they last one.. (Don't worry, WinMo guy here, not starting a shitstorm ftw)
Nokia is the only oversea manufacturer that will really suceed here in the US, the rest are crap. Check out the hot selling 5800 Xpress music or the anticipated N97.
If it has wifi I'll consider it.
Definitely passing over this and getting the pre.
yeah i agree why get this when the pre is comin out in a few months! i waited 4 months already i can wait a lil longer and plus the instinct is crap
it's to give people options. some people want everything and the kitchen sink in their phone which raises the price, and others want whatever they can get for a so-so price (especially if it is touchscreen). and somepeople just dont care lol.
i actually was thinking of upgrading to the instinct (im with sprint) and totally forgot about this phone. i'll wait and see when they get more info on it :).
LOL!!!!!complete fail , weak.
The Instinct was an OK phone. The limited browser and the crappy BREW OS is what killed this phone. App developers never really took to writing anything good for this phone and that is what ultimately killed it. With no plans of changing these on the new S30, what's the point? Without apps and a decent browser, you have no chance of gaining any ground on the iPhone.
Sprint this is all you have, come on. I see the post yesterday with atts all new touchscreen samsungs and lg, and sprint remakes the stupid instinct. i know theres a lot of phones down the road in 09 for sprint. but its seems like there mostly the same things in different forms. i.e. all the htc phones coming out. now wonder sprint is goin under they have the best plans out there 99.99 unlimited everything. no other company even comes close. but between the horrible in store expereinces, with their horrible retail reps; who care more how a holstered phone looks on them, and makes them feel like their hotshots. and their horrible selection of phones, havent seen a nice high end flip phone since like the m610. And then we find out yesterday hesse made 14 million dollars in compensation and benefits, for what he didnt do shit, except make stupid pointless black and white commercials. not to mention destroying nextel. which now their trying to bring back from the dead. wow sorry for such a rant had to get stuff off my mind; I worked for nextel as a sales rep than was transferred over to a sprint store as sprint slowly closed down nextel stores. And wow difference in corporate culture was incredible.
