Screen Grabs: Nikon D60 served up with standard lens, chocolate frosting

Ace of Cake's Duff Goldman and his Charm City Cakes shop pulled out all the f-stops to recreate a (presumably) delicious Nikon D60-shaped pastry for one family to celebrate their photographer father's birthday. The first trial ended up being too small, but instead of turning it into a point-and-shoot or micro four thirds they scrapped that iteration altogether. There's some impressive details here, but best of all (and unfortunately not seen in the gallery below) is the picture of another birthday cake in the viewfinder. Seriously, the only thing that could make this better is if they baked it with a longer lens.

Good episode. Love this show.
wonder if that was taken with a d60
in any case, I'd like to order a canon cake with an L lens pl0x
*chomp chomp*
Maybe it's just me but covering a cake in fondant and food dye makes it inedible.
was a good episode. Duff and Crew rock!
looks wonky
I hear the real reason they chose to make Nikon was because making a Canon would have required a major bakeware update. ;)
The cakes look neat but the reality is that fondant, the doughy substance they use to make the cakes, tastes like shit compared to a genuine cake. There are ways to get the "fondant look" from normal frosting but that garbage is so trendy that wedding cake bakers charge big bucks for what amounts to a mediocre tasting product.
i assume by genuine cake, you meant buttercream frosting?
BetterCreme IMO...
Awesome, but I think I'd have trouble eating that. Cutting yourself a slice of a chocolate lens barrel.. slightly surreal.
Is this another one of their fondant covered pieces of styrofoam, or have they actually made a cake for once?
Most of the things they design are edible. They only use Styrofoam when the client wants something that will last.
I appreciate the show and all, but usually the materials they throw in the cake to make it are less than edible. Still, this is a fairly impressive replication of the camera, considering the materials.
Things like this are why cake beats pie. You can't do this with pie. You can try...but you'd make quite the mess, like you would with ANYTHING you do with pie.
Mmmmm, bet you the Canon version tastes better....
the number of camera puns and references in this article makes me want to bash my head into a wall.
Cool design, but looks horrible to eat :S
Bodymore City Muthafuckaaaaa!
