Rock Band double bass pedal brings out the Joey Jordison in you
True metal-heads have already modded their Rock Band / Guitar Hero kits to accommodate that DW 5000, but for those who lack any DIY genes whatsoever, there's this. Accessory maker PDP is gearing up to ship its universal Rock Band replacement kick pedal, which conveniently ships with a "double bass adapter that allows for two pedals to be used at the same time." Time to get to work on your coordination skills, 'cause you'll definitely want to lay down $24.99 on this when it ships on June 1st.

shaweeeet!
Now all they have to do is put all the bass drum hits into the songs.
I just bought the official Rock Band 2 dual bass pedal, the one that's pictured, and it works great. It's nice to have one that properly works for the dual bass (you can use the second pedal if the first is pressed down.) The best part is that it works with GH Metallica too.
This has been available for a while now. Your local GameStore should have it in stock.
Shush! Da Murph says June 1st.
yeah, now they just need to fix that stupid joint where the pedal is connected to the rest of the assembly, mine broke and I bought a bendable plastic replacement, that thing has been a lifesaver, don't see why they had to ship RB or RB2 with crappy pedals
Joey Jordison kicks ass. Slipknot is the @!#&.
Slipknot is garbage.
HA HA HA
You're right. Slipknot is shit.
Slipknot sucks and their fans are even lamer. One day you'll be old enough to drive and listen to real music.
Waiting in vain for Rockband Tool Edition
Wow. This is the last time I posting anything on Engadget's comment section. Its a band people - A band. If you don't like them fine. And for the record I am 34.
I have it, I'm going to have to re-learn how to play bass pedal on rock band, it's not as easy as you think, it's definitely not 100% guaranteed.
Give credit where credit is due. Ginger Baker was playing double bass drum long before Joey Jordison was even alive.
and stevie wonder: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBA4vWQRBA0
Stevie Wonder's a bad ass EVERYthing. :-)
Hmm...I can't wait to try this out myself....I think this would make some songs alot easier
P.S
Slipknot is awesome! Nice to see someone on the Engadget staff likes them. Joey is defiantly one of the best drummers ever...
Joey "popular drummer because I am in a heavily marketed band" Jordison?
Yea, bands that "sell out" to make money through marketing and become popular based on the quality of their music are SOOO lame. Lol bet ur garage band never played again after the high school dance.
What? Why are you talking about me?
Assumptions will get you nowhere.
Joey Jordison is overrated as hell. He's honestly a really shitty drummer. Lars Ulrich is even worse. You want talented? Danny Carey, the drummer from Tool, is ACTUALLY the only person on Earth that can be said to be better than Neil Peart, and/or the best drummer alive.
I am, by far, the greatest drummer ever. Look, it's been said, so it MUST be true.(?)
Check out another from Mike Mangini: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31c-FL0ZlZ0
:-)
S1CK!!!
It's a toss up between Danny Carey and Neil Peart, IMHO.
I give the edge to Neil for being so amazingly versatile (writing 99% of the songs over 30+ years).
Carey is a wizard though and best of all, not a pompous asshole like, say anyone in Slipknot or Lars Napsturlich.
Joey who?
Mike Mangini kicks his ass: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=um24wnmC3xs&feature=related
He's a drummer that Joey Jordison could only wish to be.
I don't get the double bass thing for rock band. Seriously. If you're that enthusiastic about it, so something with it and go buy some actual drums and learn an form of art.
skip ahead to 1:40 for the solo....
You guys obviously have not been educated enough. Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater is the Double Bass Master and has the awards to prove it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Portnoy.
@ dr4x0n:
you obviously don't know your sh1t: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Mangini#Trivia
Something Portnoy has never accomplished or been awarded: "At his height from 2005-2006, Mangini was notorious for slaughtering three out of four World's Fastest Drummer records. These included the Fastest Matched grip at 1,247 strokes in 60 seconds, Fastest Hands, which he earned by executing 1,203 single-stroke notes in 60 seconds without drumsticks mallets etc., Fastest Traditional Grip which he earned by executing 1,126 strokes in 60 seconds, a record that stood for four years before falling to Matt Smith (1132) in 2008, and Fastest Single Stroke Foot record playing 13,222 hits in 15 minutes and 5,222 hits in five minutes, records that stood for two years before falling to Mike Mallais in 2007."
Portnoy's great, and he's got speed, but not like Mangini, and NO ONE has the mix of speed and polyrhythmic ability of Mangini. He's a beast - the best there is.
It should be noted that the single stroke foot roll refers to single strokes with two feet. Like I said, I'm 200% confident that he's faster than Portnoy, but Portnoy doesn't have the other skills that Mangini does.
I bought a rockband replacement bass pedal at best buy some time ago, which sports proper suspended tension (like a real pedal) and also this double bass support that everyone suddenly seems so giddy about.
These have been available for a while, and better quality too.
This has been out for a little while. I picked mine up at a gamestop about 3 weeks ago. Still doesn't beat a good modded kick though.
@ Scott
Let us leave Slipknot out of this Scott. Stick to your culture club Slipknot is not for you.
Yeah, I bought this about a month ago, and it simply rocks! It comes with a clear blue plastic film over the bass pedal, which looks SO MUCH BETTER than the default silver that's under the plastic. I started to peel off my plastic, saw the silver underneath, and immediately replaced the plastic.
Note to manufacturers : USE THE BLUE INSTEAD!!
All y'all fail. First, I've had a rock band 2 double bass adapter (http://omegapedal.com/twinrocker/index.html) for about 3 months now, and everyone's just now like "holy crap rock band 2 double bass".
Secondly, you're all wrong and Gavin Harrison is without a doubt the best drummer in the world.
Here's him playing in 19/8 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoSBr0xOCoY)
Here's him again (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5x4rnndeVg)
And some advice if you want to ever get good with double bass in rock band: use your left foot exclusively for the 3-4 days the adapter is in the mail, makes all the difference if you're not a real drummer (I'm not)
Gavin Harrison is great, but technically speaking, he's nowhere near being "the best drummer in teh world." Lots of doubt there, actually.
Besides, if you're not a real drummer, how are you qualified to even comment "without a doubt?"
That's what's wrong with this planet: Everyone's a freakin' expert....
How about we talk about the hardware rather than slipknot (lol).
I don't know what you guys are talking about, honestly, I picked this up like a month ago and it completely negates the point of double bass. There's a severe limit on how much time there can be between presses, which also means that it will not do what you need it to for Guitar Hero: Metallica.
Save yourself the 25 bucks and make a real one yourself, or order a twinrocker from omega pedal (which I did, and it broke, so now I hate them forever. >:( lol.
June 1st????? I bought one of these at Gamestop yesterday, with the double bass adapter.
These plastic spring-based pedals are junk.
I purchased an omega pedal and it's a massive upgrade.
I don't see the benefit in having TWO crappy pedals.
nah, I play Cannibal Corpse
