Still no US release in sight, but UMID's
M1 has now set the course for the land down under in the not-too-distant future.
Pocketables has managed to get its hands on a non-HSDPA retail version to take it through the unboxing and review motions. The pictures are a good reminder at just how tiny this thing is, especially compared to the jacket pocket fave
Vaio P. Unfortunately, it's also got a rather awkward set of adapters for USB and what appears to be headphones, as seen in the picture above. Australian retailer Justek's got the unit available for pre-order now, but you might want to glance at that $930 to $1426 price range before you impulsively hit the "pre-order now" button.

DO WANT
Wow - Amazingly small next to Vaio P - I hope they have some decent custom Windows / Linux build running on it to make it usable on such a small screen though - I would imagine vanilla windows to be near impossible.
I thought the title said UMD for some strange reason. O_o
i dunno i hear that jimmy fallon disagrees with you about the jacket pocket vaio p thing ;)
Is it possible to update the PSP to read UMD's and send the data over its USB wire to a computer?
guaranteed to fail, nothing more can be said.
I dislike how the Ctrl button isn't all the way on the left...freakin Fn needs to move over.
I'm hoping thats in AUD. But even still, way too expensive.
was that a pun at our currency's exchange rate?? lolz ;)
Australian dollars I assume?
This will surely be a bitch to type on, and they shrunk the spacebar to fit in an Internet Explorer key. Seriously, if you're tech savvy enough to buy something like this, then I doubt you'll be using IE.
Does it have a Firefox key somewhere?
yup.. just not interested at all.. seems the novelty of the uber small MIDs have worn off since they never make it past using for more than 2 weeks.
just my .02 on these, esp at that price point! oof!
headphone... converter? USB converter? There is no reason for this to be so! Why not have an audio jack and one USB, and include a USB hub?
The big lumpy things on the side spoil the whole idea of this being small and convenient.
Not good design at all.
Pssst. Australian websites use a currency called "Australian Dollars". Crazy I know. Anyway, $1426 AUD=$1019 USD & $930 AUD= $665 USD, according to my iPod.
The great thing about a web-based publication is articles can be constantly updated and corrected. The unfortunate thing is nobody cares enough to bother...
As cool as it looks, I know that the first week of ownership would include me saying "oh shit" as I snap the adapter clear off.
Also, a tablet screen without the swivel/convert to tablet ability is a bit awkward to use.
Can you even type using two hands on that thing? So damn small.
NO pointing device. So its a NO GO for me
There was a few of these on ebay not too long ago for AUD $750 with free intenational shipping
