LaCie adds to NAS catalog with Big Disk, d2 Network
Looking to add some color to your extensive NAS collection? Well, you find it here, save for the company's characteristic blue button. If you're willing to look past that cold, aluminum exterior, however, LaCie's Big Disk and d2 Network storage solutions should serve you well. The former sports up to 1.5TB capacity with eSATA port for expansion, while the latter goes up to 3TB by concactenating two drives in RAID 0. Both support the usual array of backup software, including Apple's Time Machine, and work with all DLNA-compliant devices. LaCie says they're on sale now, $190 for d2 Network and $380 for Big Disk Network.

@Leo:
Clearly not. For one thing, there was no apostrophe.
Ain't? (placing pinkie next to mouth.)
Apparently noone has caught on that "won't" should have been the third word of the second sentence in this article.

LaSuck. As one would say better than me "Network storage solutions should serve you well"... to poop on.
just wanted to ask some of you guys on here.. what is a good external hd? it doesn't seem like Lacie's are too good from the responses so far. i was thinking about g-technology? any tips? basically, all i'm storing/backing up is itunes (music, movies, photos, etc). i don't really need more than 500gb, but i wouldn't mind a 1tb, just to be future proof once I begin putting hd movies, etc on there. i'd appreciate your input here. money isn't really an issue for me. i don't care if it's expensive, as long as it's the best quality/reliable, etc. I don't want a cheap piece of plastic external hd that will crash on me & need to be replaced.
Buy an enclosure. Buy a drive. Profit!
everyone has their own preferences in HD brands so I wouldn't even bother asking :)
Btw the former and latter are round the wrong way. d2 is the 1.5TB one and Big Disk is the 3TB one.
Everyone hates on LaCie, but they're some of the best HDs I've owned.
I agree. I've owned like 5 or 6 with zero failures over 5+ years of constant use.
LaNO!
So, is it possible to concactenate things beside HDD's, or is that HW specific?
@ amac, ditto, I'm plenty happy with my Little Drive.
We have a hundred, many are dying left to right. I'm on my third 2TB BiggerDisk drive now in two years (the other two died), and I hate it. It vibrates the entire desk and makes a very high pitched noise while running. I have to keep a paper weight on it to keep it quiet. Horrible, horrible, devices. Luckily, LaCie is replacing all that we send them, though they're not very practical as backup devices anymore.
They look the same to me. Unless someone edited the article and your post.
They look the same to you?
Seriously, open your eyes, sir.
