HTC Touch Pro2 brandishes Verizon logo, poses for camera with Cedar
Not that it wasn't without warning, but we've now got some pretty definitive picture proof that HTC 's Touch Pro2 is set to bask in Verizon's CDMA goodness -- we guess your Sprint friends won't be having all the fun, after all. Also caught on camera here is the HTC Cedar, a CDMA version of the HTC Maple / Snap. It's got a slightly different button layout just under the screen than the Sprint version we recently saw, which itself is different from its initial unveiling. According to 474RPR, who leaked these pics, this one's bound for Alltel's network, which while we don't see any proof from the image, we could totally buy that. Of course, none of these pics give a release date of any sort, so hang tight while we all anxiously wait in unison.

How crippled is it going to be? With the specs the same as the original Touch Pro, and the extra screen real estate, if Verizon take out RAM, it could end up being slower than its predecessor :-(
Lets hope not. I have Verizon because of their excellent signal all over Jax (no dead spots, very few weak spots). The only problem is Verizon has been lacking on their phone selections. All their phones seem "so last year". AT&T, Sprint, & T-Mobile have been keeping their phone selection up with having the Iphone, Pre, Sidekick, Etc. The last nice phone Verizon has that caught my attention was the En-V2 which I still use (Orange of course). It's time to get a new phone for me, but I'm holding off until winter because I don't want to get stuck with one of the P.O.S crippled phones Verizon has had the past year or so.
What is verizon's fixation with doing that? Just let the phone be. They don't need to screw it up by trying to customize it to squeeze a few extra $$ out of users.
Watch this review of Verizon's Touch Pro:

Verizon cripples everything.
It has no front camera : (
I like to see this. These major phones need to be released among all the major carriers. It's a business tool, for christ's sake.
why didnt they kept the screen from the htc hd? that one has a bigger screen.
Probably because of the battery life and size
That would have been niiiiiiice.
I have four words for you: developers developers developers developers
Only four?
Too many developers and then you have to involve a manager. And we all know where that ends.
Verizon will cripple this you can count on it. Why should they release phones that customers want? When they can keep gouging them for things like VZ navigator and cripple
this is still coming to t-mobile ans at&t right?
i heard that it would be out for t-mobile in June also. but seeing how the phone company likes to cripple the phones, i was thinking about getting the unlocked version. but after seeing how everyone phone company will offer this phone, and i hate it when i see people have the same phone as me, i'm thinking i will get the nokia n97 when that comes out in June.
yeah i was thinking about getting the n97 also but then i remembered that im a poor college student and can't afford a $700 phone.
Verizon will manage to screw it up.
If they can snap a picture why can't they post the internal CPU/RAM/ROM specs? Also it took them until 2:20am to realize they should pass on this info.
I'm excited- this could potentially be here as early as June 2012.
LOL
How much do you guys think this phone will cost?
I'm a Verizon user, and I'm in the market to purchase a new phone this summer, and this is the one I've kept my eyes on.
Probably $299 after rebate. Verizon doesn't care about competitive pricing. The brought back the Motorola Q9c which was going for $99 or less and added some voice recognition software and are now selling for for $249.
Yeah I'm willing to pay $250 tops.
I get a discount through my Dad's job on a monthly data plan but I'm not paying more than $250 for the phone. And I doubt it'll be that cheap, considering the old Touch Pro is like $350 currently on Verizon.
Even $299 I think is wishful thinking- hell, the Touch Pro 1 is $349 on VZW's website. I'd guess that they'll drop the Touch Pro down to $299 or so, and introduce the TP2 at the $349 price point, or maybe even $399 for the early adopters.
Of course, a large part of that is because they positioned the Touch Pro as a very business device to the total exclusion of any other potential market. (Not even showing TouchFlo3D on the website) If they take a different approach with the TP2 and try to go after consumers you might see a lower price, but let's just say I wouldn't hold my breath.
I really, really hope they dont cripple or some how fuck this up.
I renew my contract around September, and I've been eying me some HTC qwerty goodness.
The original touch pro is 99.99 on contract at Verizon. I have a feeling we're gonna see the Touch Pro 2 soon on verizon. Get ready.
