Not as ugly as in the leaked/promotional photos.
Still ugly and much too expensive for any sane person to consider.
@Soulsaber
luckily that's were apple supporters some in :)
I'd hit it
@jay jay
*where
And that is a real stretch for an attempted thread derailing.
I really do not see how they can justify $250 for this. Maybe $99 - $149. $250??? ha!
@AVG
Yea if Apple made it, and called it the iGame, and charged $350 for it, Apple people would be lined up at the store!
Who cares if Apple people line up for an Apple product??? If that's all Apple had, they wouldn't be such a big player now. They would be what they were in the 90's. The fact that they continue to CONVERT people like yourself is what has all of the Apple haters in a tizzy.
PlayStation people will be lining up for this - big deal. Will the non-PlayStation people??? That is the challenging part.
I want to punch the people who designed the PSPgo in the sack for not including dual analogs.
Doesn't look bad, looks pretty good. But the most important part is all the features. Too high priced for me, but I hope I can get one in the near future.
@AVG: Jay Jay also wrote 'some' instead of 'come'. You need to be careful, you might lose your Grammar Police badge!
the only PSP i've owned is the one i got at launch and now this new version will make me get another one O.O
@Savagery
One was from ignorance. One was an accident. And you better watch out or you're gonna lose your lick my nuts badge.
Look at it like this? The PSP-Go was specifically designed For the Digital Consumer...rather than have a UMD Bay, Sony opted to replace it with a internal 16gb hdd. And, making it smaller, while keeping the same screen resolution size. It's small...I know. and, the MYLO'esque feel to it, changes what you're use to with the latter PSP-3000. But, it's rather ideal, for someone who is looking to have all the hardware the PSP is known to have in a compact form. At the Sony presser yesterday, they said that every game in the PSP library would be available for digital Download via PSN the moment this drops. And, they said that they were not gonna discontinue The current PSP as well as UMD Based games. They basically are gonna have 2 ports for the Games. One where you can purchase it @ your local retailer, and the other where you can Download on the PSN website(or directly from the PS3). That, to me....is pretty cool. For someone who would rather prefer the Go over the 3000, and take full advantage of what it's offering. Come on 16gb (internal) and expandable memory. Use the hdd in the Go for your games and the Memory Stick Pro Duo Mini (in whatever size you acquire) to hold the rest of your media? I'm psyched about it. I curious to know, what media file format they're gonna use on the games. I'm hoping for an ISO/CSO type format, kinda like the way you get it, when you Pandora hack your PSP? Guess, I'm gonna have to pre-order mines..........Pz
@ AVG
I gotta agree with your point but it's ironic how you didn't even notice he said "some" in stead of "come".
Anyway, looks nice but sort of expensive. Love digital though. =D
So many people were saying that the PSP Go was ugly when the pics leaked but looking at these pics, this thing is F**CKING SEXY!
I don't even want to imagine your taste in women/men. This thing is not "sexy" at all. This new model makes the old one look like a masterpiece.
I'm in agreement here. I think it looks good.
Oh yeah! Can't agree more with you there, mate! I'm starting to save up for this sexy beast!
And, just so we're clear...I'm in agreement with grull27 and not the two of you who don't think it's gorgeous!
Not great, but definitely not ugly. Looks better closed than open.
@oghowie, don't hear that very often.
I would have to try it out to really tell, I think it looks sexy.
Yeah I think it looks cool too. Most people seem to keep forgetting that this is not a replacement, they've just added another option for different people with different needs (for example, a smaller device, no UMD etc.). I mean, what did you expect? The PSP-3000 is about the smallest form factor possible for a non-slider PSP. Sony did a good job with the PSP Go, those integrated buttons and the overall shape of the device look fantastic.
Are we both looking at the same pictures? I know sexy and that's not sexy.
ehh. wats the battery life on that thing?
Another question... Where is the battery on that thing? Is it replaceable?
its not gonna last long because of how much its running
I don't believe they've mentioned anything about battery life, but considering the lack of UMD and smaller screen it will probably be at least as good as current models. Also, the battery is not removable.
Just on tip engadget. If you're shooting with a dslr, stop down the lense for greater depth of field.
Very difficult to do in indoor lighting situations. You tread the line between depth of field being too small and blur due to camera shake at low shutter speeds. The only solution is upping the ISO which results in noisy, ugly photos. I think they look pretty good, given poor lighting conditions.
They ought to get a decent fast lens.
Anyway... I think I'll stick with the DS. I don't want to rent all my games.
Have they fixed the terrible load times yet? That's the feature that'd really help the PSP...
Here's a better tip: you don't need like 10 pictures of basically the EXACT SAME ANGLE, one of which is just a shot of a lamp in reflection.

Very difficult to do in indoor lighting situations.

But easily done with a dedicated flash unit.
I would have liked to see details of the buttons on the top, Mr Engadget.
The best option is a charcoal sketch imo.
Picture three from gallery one needs to go bye-bye -- not really doing anyone any good at all, even as a thumbnail...
I've had gripes before about the DOF, even shooting ISO 1600 with a midrange DSLR it won't be that noisy and you can see more than a few cm's
Now focusing on a light on the reflection of the screen is impressive, much less the proofing of the posted pics. I know your excited and all but come on.
Wow, you guys are really something.
so much for a thank you, huh josh? you guys really are something. thanks for the pictures, engadget.
Everyone's complaints are sort of legitimate... I mean, are the pictures even looked through before they're posted? That third picture in the first album is focused on the light in the ceiling and is the same angle as other pictures anyway.
Thanks for the pictures, certainly, but with all the excitement surrounding these things... give us a better look!
With that said, I'd like to apply as some sort of Engadget Photographer...
There's going to be a lot of people that will be just dying for this to get hacked.
no one will care if it gets hacked or not, cause no one is gonna buy it =D
I plan to buy it as soon as a hack is out.
So were the blurry pics just so we could recognize it from Mr Blurrycam's original shots of it?
How long can you play before your thumbs cramp up? That looks uncomfortable as hell.
Totally uncomfortable for anyone but children for any long term use. My hands would cramp on the old PSP. Can't imagine the horror with this one.
Yet everyone complains that Pandora is ugly and bulky. Do you want to look cool playing video games or what? :)
I'm not too concerned with looking good while gaming, I'm just don't want to cause permanent injury to myself at the same time.
Let's see... way too expensive Memory Sticks (microSDHC class 4 costs 40$ for 16Gb - i was looking for prices and a M2 8Gb costs more than 100$), check, expensive console (this is subjective, but bluetooth and wi-fi chips are fairly cheap - only screen and possibly battery cost a lot - they didn't change the CPU did they?), check, overlooked ergonomy, check.... i wonder how people will be able to play on it... i have huge hands, i can't figure it out how to hold it and press the buttons at the same time, specially the analog nub and shoulder buttons, looks painful...
So ... i don't own a PSP, but i played on a first gen and though it was a nice console, shiny, fast, a bit noisy from UMD's, but a well packed solution for it's time... now... well... i'll just save up for a openPandora... at least i can put all the games i want there without hacks or expensive card... and it gives a wonderful small netbook... feature wise PSP Go seems a failure, except for watching movies i think, but we never know what future has prepared for it...
Aww, poor baby. Permanent injury? Geez, someone needs to get a job in construction, THEN talk about "permanent injury".
@Zeca- If you're paying that much for memory cards you're shopping at the wrong site.
