it has to be your own text, something you can edit obviously, like notes or email. You cant cut text from a website

You can't cut out of a web page, but you CAN cut out of Notes or Mail (or anything else with an editable text field.)

Goddamn activation server won't let me in.
Apple can't even do that in full blown OS X, what makes you think they can do that here?
What.. they had to leave something for 4.0... how else would they be able to say "over 300 new features."
Im using an Iphone 2g with 3.0 now, but I cant seem to get to the Accessibility (handicap) menu. I am deaf in my left ear and I was looking forward to mono audio. Was this only limited to the 3g and 3g s?
Does anyone else see any stability and speed improvements on their 1st generation iPod Touch?

I'm sad to a certain degree. No more will we hear the Apple Haters complain about copy & paste or MMS or video or the myriad other things the Apple Haters nitpicked. Oh, they'll find ways to complain about those things (well, at least my phone had such and such feature before the third version. Ha!), but people will for the most part will ignore them like they ignored this first comment.
Now we have to hear the Haters complain about things the majority of the non-geek public know nothing about. Seriously, ask your grandmother or your wife if she really, really wants multi-touch on her next phone and bask in the blank stare you get for your trouble.
So be very sad, guys. This is the end of the great days of iPhone bitching. Now we have to hear asinine comparisons between real keyboards versus touch screen keyboards and on occasion, a complaint about needing a removable battery (just buy a Mophie Juicepak, man, seriously).
In other words, get ready for the Apple Haters to get extremely boring. I'm crying about it already.

Why do Engadget's polls never have a 'see results' link?
I don't own an iphone.. I just wanna see the results of the poll.. if everyone in my situation voted "what's an iphone" to get to the results page, then the results get distorted and you have to do some quick math to get to the real answer..
Which is fine, math is no big deal for me, but why not save us the effort?

I upgraded my iPod to OS 3.0 last week and it's been running beautifully.

Once I opened Firefox it connected to the apple activation server and all was well! I had tried fifty times prior. I updated on a PC.
What do you mean? It's working fine on mine.
It only works on editable text, not webpages (sorry about stating the obvious, but... :P). Select some text you typed and it pops up (or any text you can edit in any application). It's just like on any other device, pretty straightforward.
I predict that Bob Denley will say: "I love mine, had the iPhone and it just doesn't compare to the Pre... sorry fanboys" because he is a douche.

I know MMS is not available with ATT yet, but shouldn't the options/icons still be there? I am missing those.

For the voting.... What's an iPhone? Have all these people been living under a rock the past couple of years. Either that, or there are more sarcastic, jealous iPhone-haters than I realized. Accessibility features are limited to the new 3G s phone only (it wasn't something that came as part of the 3.0 OS upgrade). It was nothing to do with audio, but did offer video contrast features. For the exact details, go to the Apple iPhone website and take a look at what's new with the 3Gs (http://www.apple.com/iphone).

Anyone have anything to say about this? Can anyone honestly say the Pre has more features?
PS - the iPhone CAN multitask - you can listen to music, send e-mails, download files, AND surf the web at the same time. What you CANNOT do is have multiple 3rd party apps open at the same time - for example, I can't play Boggle AND Texas Holdem at the same time. And why would I? However, I CAN play Boggle, listen to my music, answer an email, download a PDF, etc. at the same time.
I would honestly like someone to list several dozen features the Pre has that the iPhone doesn't have. I guarantee no one will.
From everything that I've read, 3.0 it has limited AVRCP at best (does not allow forward or reverse track skipping) it merely plays/pauses and questionable volume control. This all begs the question, is this really AVRCP?
