Getac 9213 "business rugged" laptop tones down the toughness, the ugly

Looking for something a little tougher than your average notebook yet a little less fugly than your typical Toughbook? Getac's 9213 is a "business rugged" device that sports a full magnesium alloy chassis, a spill-resistant keyboard and touchpad, and a 13.3-inch WXGA display. With a 45nm Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn-class ULV processor, 3GB of RAM, a shock-mounted HDD (up to 250GB), and a battery life of up to eight hours, this guy shouldn't be slouch as far as performance goes -- and if that weren't enough you can swap out the optical drive for a second battery (extending its life another fifty percent or so). As you'd imagine, the connectivity options here include draft-n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, and an optional 3.75G HSUPA module. Man, we can't wait to put this bad boy through one of our sadistic torture tests! Available now with an MSRP of $1,799.

that still looks fugly
Doesnt look any different from the thinkpads or dell latitudes as far a the toughness goes. Arent the dell latitudes magnesium alloy too?
So you can swap out the optical for more juice, but can you add another HDD or an SSD instead?
Fail.
Looks like my Dell Latitude XT, but more rounded off... and without a touchscreen... and no pointing stick... and a stupid enter key.
Nothing stupid about the enter key. It's a non US keybard.
What's wrong with the enter key. The size is large and easy to hit unlike US keyboard enter key.
when will people learn? rugged means yellow. otherwise it does not count.
I'd rather get a Macbook Pro, it is made from precision unibody aluminum enclosure that is thinner, lighter, and more durable than competing models. Plus, it has a backlit keyboard and the best and most secure operating system on the planet, OSX.
dude...
COME ON!
Yeah, the only advantage of this thing over the MacBook Pro 13 seems to be the hard disk protection. But for the price difference you could put in a monsterous SSD (by SSD standards) and not need the shock protection.
@iKurt 7 - of all the stupid @ss comments posted by fanboys all over this site, yours has to be the dumbest. You have no idea what the F you're talking about, so please, STFU.
It's not the enclosure that makes a notebook, or any computer for that matter, "rugged". You're paying for the system to be put through a battery of tests that proves it can withstand drops from distances to the floor, water splashing on the keyboard, sealed from dust penetrating and getting into the components.
Apple does not compete in this space, you cannot compare the products. Please, do a *little* research before you open your mouth.
This looks a lot like my VAIO SZ160!
BURN IT YOU SICK COMPUTER BONDAGE BASTARDS, MAKE IT BURN, MAKE THAT MAGNESIUM SHINE LIKE THE SUN BUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRN!!!
Meh... wouldn't let me add < psychotic > < /.psychotic > tags...
