Looks nice, but what made them think that a camera wouldn't be nice in this or why didn't they put one? And whoever say Iphone killer, please explain.

I wouldn't say iPhone killer as it isn't a phone but I do believe the Touch could be in trouble. The processor is better than anything we have ever seen in a mobile device and Apple probably won't release a Touch that does more than the iPhone or they will end up with 2 different platforms that people will be forced to develop for. WinMo 7 could be an issue for Apple as it's minimum hardware requirements are basically the specs of the ZuneHD. Most people don't have a need for a craptastic camera sensor in a media player when everyone has one on there cellphone. I personally don't need a shitty sensor to raise the price of the device.
im a big fan of Zune, own one in fact, but the "HD" in Zune HD is for the HD radio right? that means this is the Zune Hybrid Density which is kind of misleading...or is it the HD output that this device will exhibit? I'm not thinking HD is quite the right name.

Zune HD is for HD video/radio. Not just radio. Hence the purpose of the Tegra chip. Do some research, bruh.

Apples connection at the base of its iPods is proprietary, like many other MP3 players, and therefore cannot be used be anyone else. Therefore, it will not work with an iPod dock.

@Surfaced: why would it? 720p resolution on a 2.8x1.6" screen would get around 450ppi, one and a half times the 300ppi human eye differentiation limit. When you smash more pixels into the device's screen than would matter to the user anyway, that's called a waste of money. Granted, the current 480x272 screen has 140ppi, which is only half, but it's not really going to make that much of a difference on a screen so small. The device can still play 720p movies, but they will be scaled down.

Strictly for accuracy's sake, the screen is right around 170ppi.

read my comment again, you kind of repeated what I said. It doesn't have HD video, it exports HD video. i garrentee that when laymen pick it up they are expecting the screen to just destroy anything else in clarity.

Sorry, this isn't a portable High Definition Television that you want to put in your pocket, don't act like you're surprised. You want an HDTV? Get an HDTV. I'll come over with a Zune HD and play you an HD video of your mother.
Why do people want a camera on their mp3 player, it would likely be a crappy camera. Why not use your phone and its crappy camera, or....better yet, use a camera. I'm not sure why people are so obsessed with having one thing that does everything poorly, why not have something that does 1 thing well. Why not just have a phone, that does its job as a phone well, a mp3 player that actually plays music well and sounds good, and a camera that takes good pictures? Why are people so good with poor quality, but its ok if its all in one device...

Not unless they release it internationally. I mean no one in Europe has any freaking idea what a Zune is.

I guess its all about perspective... I see it as another "nobody owns zunes" joke that's gotten far more than just stale.
I see your perspective though, but I am also aware that it is a North American product that is EASILY exported from the USA.
Fieldcar, maybe you should get perspective, we Zune owners are less than 7% the market (or close to that) I think its reasonable to make those jokes, if you like the Zune than get over the lame jokes and enjoy it, but don't pretend that we are some kinda secret majority.
REALLY?? Thats going a little far. We all know who leads and who follows in this relationship ;o) A few "one-ups" by MS is not going to stop the Monster that is Apple. We (us Apple folk) used to be scared but then they brought Steve back! He has lead this fun, crazy, unimaginable trip into the world of the personal computer and we are all luck to get to enjoy it. Yes really. And there is no one party that leads or follows. Apple and Microsoft have gone back and forth for quite a while. Right now It's arguably Apple for the PMP, computer, and phone markets, but Microsoft is releasing Zune HD and Windows 7 this fall, and Windows Mobile 7 coming next year.
I Don't have high expectations for Windows Mobile 7 yet, but I am sure that the tech and platform behind the Zune HD will far surpass the iPod touch. I'm not saying that it will do great in the marketplace because I have no way of knowing. What I'm saying is that if Microsoft can get some iSheep to realize that a great device doesn't have to have an apple on it, then this will be a very popular device.
Man I can't wait for this thing, I loved my older zune so much before I dropped it in the drink. Any rumors on storage space and price yet?
16GB and 32GB with prices 'competing' with the iPod Touch. For awhile now MSRP on Zunes have been just less than comparable iPod so I would expect these to be a bit less than the comparable Touches.
I'll take that black one. Prefer a 64GB flavor if possible.
Agreed. I only want this if it comes in a 64GB.
64gb is a necessity for me. i think that is the general consensus.
