GameStop pre-orders new CFO

GameStop practices what it preaches -- even when it comes to appointing new company executives. The video game retailer known for asking consumers to "guarantee" a copy of their games ahead of time has itself pre-ordered a new executive vice president slash chief financial officer. Catherine R. Smith, a former GameStop exec, has a release full-time start date of March 1, 2010. (That's when current EVP and CFO David W. Carlson goes in the bargain bin retires.)

Fun fact: Ms. Smith formerly served as CFO of Raytheon, one of America's largest defense contractors. It makes -- among other things -- systems used to remotely operate UAV drones. Perhaps she can use her connections to wrangle up some Predators for a new platinum tier, same-day shipping service?
