Sony's new PS3 Slim ads prove it 'gets' the internet

We have to hand it to Sony, they've followed up nicely on their "worst kept secret" trade show jokes with an ad campaign that is fittingly self aware. Our only gripe? That cheap shot at Bernie Buncalan -- his blog is pretty good. We also packed in another video after the break. Enjoy.

Okay these are great commercials, and I hate commercials. (except for that old Sprite commercial where the animated sun pops out of the bottle and tries to kill a family... good times.)

About damn time they came up with some good commercials (and the second one was GREAT). Their, make ads so creepy everyone is uncomfortable, plan should have gotten the ad department dragged out back and shot.

Good commercials, but why are they upset at them using bernie? Since they used his name/likeness, he both agreed to it and got paid....I'm sure he didn't mind.....

I love it. Damnit Sony, I hated you for saying that Backwards Compatability for PS2 would never come back on PS3 (hopefully that's similar to this situation) but this commercial has appeased me :3
These ads really made sense and are funny while being short, can't wait to see Microsoft console hunters ads. This should be a good weekended.

Name another console that does do Linux... Dont act like its something that everyone else has. Lack of Backwards compatibility is a negative, but in reality how many people will go back and play PS2 games when they have a PS3?

I would guess that MANY people go back and play PS2 games. They are still MAKING NEW PS2 consoles!
Nintendo has stopped making GameCube. And MS has stopped making XBOX consoles. Sony is the only company making last gen consoles. It is also the only one without backward compatibility. (Save the first gen PS3)
It was funny when the xbox 360 first came out, that everyone was whining (Ps3ers) and complaining that it had limited backwards compatibility. but now the ps3 dropped BC COMPLETELY they just shrug it off and say "who cares"
Mine does. If PS2 b.c. and Linux were that important to you, you would have already bought the damn console. C'moooon. Who are we kidding?! They were FAR from being important features. Yeah, plus you can tell he's playing LBP, no wonder he hasn't hooked on the internet, nice work Sony, now I definitely want to try that game out. Talk about marketing.
However, LBP is 100% times better when you go online and see other people's levels. It's also 200% better with friends.

They should have has these commercials around for the launch 60GB since that SKU really did do everything. That being said Sony has finally realized how to market the PS3, I always thought that guy did a good job in the MLB 09 The Show commercials.
No shit. Is it just me, or did the whole mentality of the PlayStation brand change when the PS3 came out? From the logo, to the branding, to advertising, everything was such a radical departure from the very successful PS2 era. I've thought the PS3 was a fantastic machine from day one, but why did it take Sony nearly three years to decide to get that across?
You'd think you'd want to push the "It Does Everything" idea when the thing was $600. Well, better late than never I suppose.
lol I can play PS2 game and install linux, but you know what's funny I don't to either one! My 20gb PS3 didn't have wireless. but I have never needed that also. lol
