LG BL40 Chocolate now shipping in the UK
LG's making good on its promise to ship the stunning BL40 in Europe this month, pairing up with Carphone Warehouse and its mobiles.co.uk division to offer the latest Chocolate through your choice of O2 or Orange. Pricing ranges from £19.99 all the way up to £129.99 ($33 to $211) depending on carrier and plan, but any way you roll, you're guaranteed to end with with one of the longest phones -- it's got a 21:9 display, after all -- that money can buy.

21:9 cinema format anyone?
The John Kerry phone? You know, to match his long face...
This thing better double as a slap bracelet...
Shit, that wasn't supposed to be a reply. Give me an Edit button Engadget!
And the clock is 21:19? Haha. Close but few-to-no dice.
That font it's using isn't Comic Sans, is it?
Do you think it would be possible to get one of these puppies running on Verizon if I were able to get my hands on one?
I believe the radios are different. Another member would probably know better.
My guess is that O2 and Orange both being GSM operators, the ones branded under them would not work. Verizon is CDMA, so you might have to wait till a CDMA flavor hits the store.
All UK networks are GSM, rendering the handsets that run on them incompatible with the likes of Verizon and Sprint.
The only country other than the US that uses CDMA, to the best of my knowledge, is South Korea.
So, if you wanted to try and import one, you'd need to switch to a network that uses the worldwide standard for mobile phone technology, not one that's deliberately awkward.
All that aside, it's an atrocious phone, so why you'd want to waste your money on one is another matter entirely.
Wow that phone looks long and l-a-m-e!
Your post looks non descriptive and obvious. And F-A-D-E-D.
Dont care for it. Meh...
Whatever you gain from that widescreen isn't worth dealing with an unreasonably long device. Seems like an experiment that should've been left in the LG labs.
Will this work on US AT&T 3G?
We'll see when it pops up on the import market but my guess is no, not yet. I personally really hope for a US GSM/3G variant though. My BB 8800 is finally feeling long in the tooth and the U2 tie-in has eliminated RIM from my want list.
/Leave the lame musician endorsements to Apple FFS!
Man those icons are horrible looking...........the phone is also.
Well, when it comes to penal compensation, it's cheaper than buying a Ferrari.
some one at LG has got jokes. Unfortunately, they aint funny. Just when I thought gone are the days of the Motorola brick, then this.
I made a funny video of this phone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mjuD__WtxM
