BlackBerry Bold 2 set for November 11 T-Mobile launch?
The word on the street is that the BlackBerry Bold 2 (aka 9700, aka Onyx) will be heading to T-Mobile -- and, subsequently, into the hands and hearts of the eager American public -- on November 11. This would seem to jibe with talk of AT&T and T-Mobile coming out parties slated for October 21, although we'll have to wait for an official announcement. On the other hand, we have seen enough of this device over the months that it would be a shock if its debut was anything less than imminent. Ms. Yuki must be ecstatic.

What is it that does not make me excited about Blackberries? I do respect the devices and I think they are fantastic business tools, however, they do lack a bit on the entertainment side, no?
I do congratulate RIM for the abundance of 3.5 mm jacks *** gives Oreo cookie ***
I also congratulate their move on WiFi *** gives 2% milk ***
Now, dunk and enjoy !
@tikiteko
Yeah this is true. I guess they don't want to appeal to media and entertainment. Especially since I haven't seen RIM going off the loop saying "This phone is awesome at multimedia, facebook, twitter" and what-have-you, EVEN though these applications are available. I think Blackberry still wants to maintain a serious approach.
Scamberry. Biggest bloody scam on the face of the earth. Reinvent the farking wheel and pretend like they are great innovators. Such limited phones with crappy UIs designed for morons to use which frustrate any remotely technologically savvy user. Theres nothing a Scamberry can do that a cheap Symbian smartphone like even a 5500 Sport can't do. "Scamberry Internet Service" it seems. Another bloody obvious scam is they pretend as if only their proprietary proxy servers can provide internet browsing which in reality goes though an ORDINARY GPRS connection and the OS blocked other applications from making TCP/IP connections. When this scam became too apparent to hide they silently enabled GPRS access for 3rd party J2ME applications so that other browsers like Opera Mini could work.
Are you sure you haven't been using a Blackberry that's been carrier-locked? I knew plenty of T-Mobile and AT&T phones that branded the crap out of my user-experience. You really can't blame the manufacturer, you gotta blame the carrier.
Newbie question. How do you follow the answers you make on other people posts?
I have RSS feed and also I get an email when someone responds to my post, but I have no way to follow my responses to others posts.
You're right. Trackball is boring if not awkward to use with app like map, browser, etc.
How does one pan the map display with a trackball? Why people still stuck with
trackball?
True, the Blackberry isn't the best with media, but it is one of the best. The iPhone, of course, is on a whole different level, but the Blackberry's abilities put above most other phones:
-3.5 mmm jack, A2DP, excellent looking screen (pixel density, resolution, and contrast), iTunes sync, etc. It us my primary media device during the week.
I can't until this phone is three years old so my company can buy me a refurbished one and disable the camera (for whatever reason).
hehehe I have seen that on the Sprint website how they offer the camera and no-camera version. It must be to keep employees from snitching any trade secrets for sure.
Not understand why your company's IT department would block the camera/purchase BBs without one is probably a good enough reason for them to keep doing so. If you can't recognize that the work you're doing or the products/paperwork/etc. you're working with could be inappropriately used if photographed, then it's best you just don't get a BB with that capability.
i'm wondering what's exciting about new blackberries? like is there a big difference between old models and new ones?
I hear that. They all look the same to me Blackberry's = yawn
Subtle differences on the outside (if it aint broke...)
Big differences in the inside: 3G on T-Mobile - Finally! + Wi-Fi & UMA
now what will be the outrageous price that TMobile will charge me for this phone?
$199 w/ 2yr contract
Anyone know if this will be 3G on tmobile? or slow EDGE....i have bb 8900 and loving it and would get this in a heartbeat if 3G......
3G, yes.
Im a Bold owner and i have to say that im disappointed with the Bold 2. The first gen Bold stood out from the rest of the other models except the Storm. RIM took a step back. It looks just like the Tour but with the leather backing. RIM is loosing a customer.
SP
They're trying to keep everything the same style. When the Bold launched it was the first of the "new" style that RIM has been using since then. I'm not sure how this can be a negative unless the only thing you care about is what a phone looks like...
@ mrcur
The Bold is RIMs flagship into the new style. RIM has the latest features of any smart phone IMO. Combine sexy and features and you have a winner. RIM shouldve continued to build on improving the existing form factor. I wouldve been fine with a smaller Bold but having it look just like the Tour with a with an even smaller leather backing give me a break. If i was looking for something nice but lacks features ill get an iphone.
SP
Just like the Tour?? did you happen to notice the trackpad
The Tour doesn't have any leather, has a trackBALL, doesn't have as good a camera, doesn't have the new style of the name imprinted on the back, etc. THIS is the new flagship. I'm not sure why you can't see that.
@ mrcur
I know that genius. The Bold was the original flagship to the models you see today idiot. The Tour is another improvement from the Curve that Sprint/Verizon carries and they look like the BOLD. Look at the improvements on the Storm 2. They kept the same look and feel but improved on the design and functionality of the touchscreen. They shouldve of improved on the Bolds form factor like increasing the screen size, thinner body or maybe including the trackpad. The Bold 2 looks like the Tour now. LOOK BEFORE YOU SPEAK.

@ Jay
I did notice the trackpad but im not happy with the fact that RIM made the original Bold look like the Tour now. Now RIM accomplished to get the Tour/Bold 2 on Sprint/Verizon and ATT network. Ill be getting the HD2 when it comes to America cause im not happy with the Tour i mean Bold 2 :)

I have been using Blackberries for a LOOONG time, they keep getting better and better. My latest is an 8820. Battery life is outstanding. It's fast and easy to use. Quality is great, I drop it all the time and it's still ticking. The problem is they're boring as hell. I keep hoping it'll die so I can get something else.
I can't until this phone is three years old so my company can buy me a refurbished one and disable the camera
Tel me how that touchscreen working for u,,,p
9700+skyfire=win
skyfire hurry up so when this phone does comeout (nov11th) I can browse the world wide web!
Man i wish this phone would come to CDMA carriers...
You mean with the optical trackpad? Other than that it pretty much already has.
The Blackberry Bold 2 is going to be the reason I switch from VZW to AT&T or Tmobile for the first time ever. Seriously, the device is excellent, and may just be the best crackberry ever, and the optical trackpad on the Blackberry Bold 2 is so sweet. Very tempting..
