He's back, folks. Our main dude Josh Topolsky will be infiltrating America's minds directly from the set of
Late Night with Jimmy Fallon this evening -- and it's been an absolutely huge few weeks in gadgets, so trust us when we say JT's well-stocked with hot new gear to show off. Tune in on your local NBC station at the times listed below, let us know how he's doing in comments, and make sure to include #joshtops in your tweets!
P.S.- In case you missed Josh and Jimmy goofing around with the
iPhone 3GS in June or the
Pre back in March, we've got videos after the break.

DROID ALERT!
I will get ready to cringe at this awkward, geeky, man-love encounter.
Forget Josh. He's crap on camera and has the conversational skills of a band saw. Send Nilay!
Actually.. One thing I like about Josh, is he's clearly a geek, he even walks like a geek, it's nice to see a proper proud-to-be-geeky person on TV, that's not some crappy hired actor from the company whos' products being discussed, and is still clearly to the very core interested in what he's talking about.
Geek on Josh. Geek on.
Josh lives in NYC, and Nilay lives in Chicago. It's much easy for Josh to stop by for the taping than for Nilay to fly in.
jimmy- hold on a sec josh, i need to look into the camera and laugh...
Joshua is so funny because he's so unfunny. Think about it.
and he'll only get better. Josh, I mean.
Maybe..
But for sure it's the Twitter Peek!
Break a leg! In 3, 2, 1.... Psych high five!
Bliiiiiiin-ded by the shoes.....
I can't sit through 2 minutes of Fallon voluntarily. If Josh's segment is interesting enough I'll catch up here or on youtube.
Hes gotten better since he started.
with only one way he could possibly go, isn't it inevitable?
Conan was bad when he started too. Fallon will improve with time...
He actually has gotten better. Surprisingly even Carson Daly with time and a new format has gotten better. I'm especially surprised nbc stuck with Carson in his slot. I haven't looked at late night ratings in a little while, but they were down overall since Leno has been in the 10pm slot. Local news is also down at 11. NBC needs to axe Leno as soon as possible or at least limit the number of nights he is on. They need to get their Law & Orders and dramas back in the 9 and 10pm weekday slots. They're killing Law & Order having that on Friday nights and SVU is lost on Wednesdays. Meanwhile, promising shows are being killed or aren't getting a chance because of Leno. USA is doing a decent job of picking up the slack and a few of those shows should be on NBC. Hopefully all of the good dramas don't get relegated to cable. What was this post about? Josh on Late Night? meh. I like the Roots.
I hope he does improve, I liked him on SNL. Not so much in his new spot. I'm wondering if it's him or the writers that need improving though...
It did improve tremendously from the first few episodes. I haven't seen it in a while though, has the Saved By The Bell reunion occurred yet?
I actually agree with the Conan comment. He was kind of almost exactly like Fallon when he first started and now has more confidence. I tell people to give him a try now. He's getting more comfortable, and has gotten more comfortable. He's the only host who plays beer pong with this guests. That, and he has the freakin Roots as a house band. +10 cool points for that!
Hey Engadget.. How about some Ustream love for those of us not currently residing in the U S of A?
@sitruc, they go with Leno because people still love Leno. He still gets a lot of great guests and performances along as good ratings. The highlight of the deal in having Jay is also that his 5X shows a week costs less than any ONE show that would normally be on in the 10pm time slot.
Ratings in the time slot are down and the other networks are loving it. It cost less for Leno to be on every weeknight, but the advertisers won't reup at the same rate. Love of Leno is slipping and it's a somewhat different audience. The guests aren't great nor are most skits. Performances are relatively rare. Most good guests are via satellite in bad segments full of lag. The green car challenge wishes it was Top Gear and fails horribly.
it seems you are just following the engadget connection rather than reality. Fallon is not funny, and that's with a team of well paid writers.
during his SNL years, he sucked so bad he made Will Ferrell look hilarious.
HTC HD2
Ugh, I want a droid badly, or at least a 2.0 ROM for the G1.
Me likey da show but me be eastern european. Me wantey dis show.
Hulu.com. Should be up there two days after it airs. :)
Hopefully he's not flashing his nuts at us again with them tight ass pants!
Tight pants or I am not watching!
more like:
tight ass-pants
m'rite??
I'm sorry... nothing but love for the folks at Engadget but I can't willingly sit through Fallon. I'll wait for the clip here.
I love Engadget, but I've succeeded thus far in avoiding Jimmy Fallon like the plague, not gonna ruin that now.
I watched one time (the Pre show)...it is gawd awful imo.
Oh cool, so you're Kevin Rose now?
Now 30 Rock makes sense, Jimmy has a talking dog on the show.
As much as we love you guys, Please Josh no tight pants this time. You represent all of us. Make us look good!
Haven't seen an episode of Fallon with Josh on it, but is he going to interrupt Fallon as much as he does Nilay and Paul on the Engadget Show???
Wow, he must be hilarious considering how much fake laugh Jimmy Fallons pulling in that pic.
He is gonna bring the stupid Droid... not watching
Am I the only one who likes Jimmy Fallon's Show?
yes you are, his show is awful.
yes. god how can you watch his show. He awkwardly sticks to script with no facial expressions whatsoever.
In context his show is awful. Meaning that when compared to Craig Ferguson (who airs in the same time-slot) Fallon falls short of being as entertaining, funny, or spontaneous. That being said Fallon is getting better and I am sure he will eventually be good.
I hated it at first, stopped watching for like three months, and now I'm watching again (albeit on Hulu). I'm liking that he's easing into it and, no, he's no longer as stiff and scripted.
I can agree that his show was terrible at first, but it is way better now.
The only reason not to watch the show is Jimmy Fallon...
Too bad he's on Fallon, I would rather get a nasty bladder infection than watch that POS show.
droooooid
Thanks for the heads up......I know what I won't be watching tonight. Topolsky is a tool, and not even a useful one!K
