LG RoboKing adds second camera, seeks to escape Roomba shadow
We know, we know -- the original Roomba saves children from peril, plays real-life Pacman, and steals its owners' hearts away, but let's give LG's refreshed autonomous robovac a chance, shall we? Now equipped with two cameras (claimed to be an industry first) and lowering operational noise to a more bearable 50dB, the RoboKing is back in town and pining for your attention. It's more compact than its previous iteration, stretching up to only 90mm, and it's also said to be 30 percent faster on the job. Nice gains, to be sure, but we'd still like to see how this machine handles before we're convinced. Bonus video after the break.

Pretty
very
and that robo-thing seems nice too
@Glodokboy
LG should probably not use girls as pretty/cute as she is..... it makes the product so..... invisible....
@darkmax You do realize shes like 14.
@MJGAMER 1991 XBL You forget she's asian. She could be thirty for all you know. I'm in my twenties myself and I still have the complexion of a mid-teenager.
@MJGAMER 1991 XBL
She's not 14, just Korean...probably like 35 years old with 2 kids.
Ah! There, I see it: The second camera. Whatever is it for?
@kjmathew PeeWee knows...
Dual upskirt cam, in the words of lil' John, YEAH'AH!!!!
@froggio exactly what i was thinking
Will women/men start geting fat now that robots do all the chores?
@Tegdagne
Are you so fat that you consider 'dusting' a workout?
Tee hee.
@Tegdagne Nah, I think we need levitating chairs with screens on the front of them before that really takes hold.
I seriously don't get Korean marketing, when I'm a Korean myself.
Okay, you have great looking models, fantastic.
They totally take attention AWAY from the product you're trying to sell though.
How much for the girl, btw?
@Outsider Let me break it down for you.
No Models = No Attention
So eventhough the models take away alot of attention from the product, there's still a little chance that some people will recoqnize a product. While with no models, nobody pays any attention.
She looks like she's 12 or so.
Fabulous model. I want to be Roboking too :)))))))))))))
Is it me, or does her forearm look super hairy?
@Nienhan
It's not just you that saw that. Did you notice that shortly after noticing the girl and then seeing that there was a product there, or shortly after noticing that it was an article about a vacuum cleaner that has cameras on it?
@HardToBelieve
Lol, I didnt even read the title... I'm not ashamed to say! All I saw was the lady... this proves the advertising doesnt work for really horny guys.
@Nienhan http://www.flickr.com/photos/lge/4183409790/sizes/o/in/set-72157622870862969/
Why yes, it is =o
LOL Pretty you have to be kidding?
Why is it they always have super cute models that look like they're 12? It makes me feel like a pedophile.
@das boot if you think she looks like 12 then maybe you are -.-" hahaha shes probably 20+ or smth
@das boot Difference in cultural perceptions of beauty.
Good. I hope these take the originals 'round the back and beat the crap out of them. I bought a reconditioned Scooba and the damn thing dies just outside the warranty period...oh, and it scared my dog.
I'm surprised Engadget didn't get more creative and post a picture of Mr.Plow vs Plow King
Pretty soon, you're gonna need NSFW tags for all Korean product posts.
Ohh.. that's nice. I wonder how well she vacuum =)
"LG RoboKing adds second camera"
She used to be a cyclops!! O_O
I would only buy this if Cats could ride it comfortably.
Interestingly I came in to see if anyone was commenting about the girl, not about the vac...
So why don't they actually show it vacuuming? All they're proving is that the bristles spin while the thing can find its way across a perfectly clean floor. Did someone in marketing forget about the purpose of this thing?
A camera pointed upwards is only useful for one thing, and it's not for vacuuming...
Was it just me, or do the bristles on this product look like they're not gonna clean much? There was like a big gap down the middle where the bristles don't reach, so even if this product has good suction, there's gonna be a big streak of crap left over.
Btw, what's with the campy japanese av music in the video. I thought for a second it was gonna give me a pleasant surprise.
Before long vacuum cleaners will look like Korean girls, so they won't have to change much in their advertising strategy.
Toasters are next!
