The Road to Mordor: Vol 3 Book 1 new Skirmish gear rewards

Every Friday, The Road to Mordor brings you the latest in Lord of the Rings Online news, guides and analysis.

Volume 3 Book 1, Oath of the Rangers, has been keeping me busy on Bullroarer, the test server. I've been working my way through the new epic quest line, trying out the new Spring Festival events and drooling over the new Skirmish rewards. For this installment of The Road to Mordor, I've spent an unlawful amount of time at the Skirmish camp vendors transcribing the new rewards.

After the jump, I've listed the current stats of the new Heavy, Medium and Light Armors as well as the new Cloaks and Rift Cosmetics. There are also pics of the new items and a video showing the cosmetics. Keep in mind that this is all on the test server and subject to change.

New Skirmish Armor

The armor here is not anything exceptional, which is in line with other Skirmish rewards (better than solo quest rewards, worse than instance rewards.) Some sets cost Skirmish Marks plus Veteran's Third Marks (which drop from 6 and 12-man Skirmish runs). While other sets costs Skirmish Marks and Third Marks (which drop from 1 and 3-man Skirmish runs, and soon 2-mans.)

If you really want the armor from the set requiring Veteran's Third Marks, but don't run 6- or 12-man Skirmishes, you can use the Skirmish Exchange Vendor in any Skirmish camp to turn 2,190 Skirmish Marks and 1 Third Mark into 1 Veteran's Third Mark. Of course, given that you are going to need three of those bad boys, you're looking at an extra 6,570 Skirmish Marks per piece.

Better armor will drop from instances and possibly crit crafted gear, but if you love the Skirmishes you can at least see some kind of equipment progression. All Skirmish Mark costs are listed as SM.
