The Classifieds: Back for more

The Classifieds brings you weekly news from around the WoW community, including your shout-outs to perpetrators of Random Acts of Uberness.

They came, they went ... And now <There and Back Again> is -- well, back again. This Thorium Brotherhood (US-A) guild, formed specifically to quest its way through a farewell tour of vanilla WoW Alliance content from start to finish, has hit the level cap, marked its territory and is preparing to launch a similar effort Horde-side.

"After starting with over 100 members who joined us (in most part due to your article!), we ended up with around 35 who stuck through to the very end," reports GM Mistigris. "Lots of adventures along the way! Foot races through Stranglethorn, marches through Dalaran, cooking contests, random dungeon madness, tons of visits to the NPC that turns off XP ... We did ZG and Karazhan at very close to level cap, and there is a robust kernel of folks who are gearing up for 80th heroics and raiding."

Time now for the flip side of the coin. "We're going to nest within <Imminent Rueage> on Thorium Brotherhood (US-H)," Mistigris continues. "Our starting date is Saturday the 24th of July -- starting zones and guild invites galore! Level cap for the day is 12th; we'll be gathering the following week at Crossroads for our first 'official' event."

If you've been looking for just the right way to wrap up the pre-Cataclysm era, look up <Imminent Ruage> and give all things Horde-side one more for the road. We've got plenty of other news from around the WoW community this week, as well ... So let's crack open The Classifieds.

Random acts of uberness

It's when another player lights up your night with precise play, a wicked sense of humor or unexpected generosity that your login becomes something to remember. Send your shout-outs for those who've gone above and beyond the call of PUG duty to theclassifieds@wow.com. Keep things brief (150 words or less, please), and be sure to list everyone's character names and home realms or battlegroup.

Tagashi, Cenarius (US-H) A friend and I always use the Dungeon Finder to play around, and usually we meet a couple good people, and a TON of trolls/ninjas/just plain dumb people. My friend (Rabblerabble-Fenris) and I (Norai-Fenris) met Tagashi, or "Tag" as we were ported into the Stockade. This was about 9pm or so, my time. Through dumb rogues who were so bad we couldn't even kick them because they were on kick cooldown, a couple of wipes when a mage tried to tank (uh?), and a ton of fun adventures, we ended up sticking together for a few more dungeons, including ones I'd never seen before! Tag was super helpful, and really friendly. We stuck together til almost 2am! Thanks Tagashi! I wish you the best of luck in your Azeroth adventures. :) -- Norai, Fenris (US-H)

Kasie, Zcmadness, Ativan, Bashevis, Greymane (US-A) After waiting the usual 15 minutes to get into a random PUG for a frost run, I landed in a group of 4 members from Greymane (US-A). We got Utgarde Pinnacle and the run was going smoothly until I DC'd. As I waited to reboot my connection, the aggravation of knowing another 15 or more minutes of waiting for a new PUG gnawed at me. Much to my surprise, the other 4 members of the group hadn't kicked me out but instead had continued on the dungeon run and as I zoned back in, found that they were on the last boss which they downed and I got credit for the run. Most other groups would have easily kicked but these four from Greymane make the top of my Uber list. They were Kasie, Zcmadness, Ativan and Bashevis. Thanks for being so cool! Graymane FTW! -- Snoqalm, Staghelm (US-A)

News: Around the WoW community

A thang about Wabang "Every time I run into the AH in Orgrimmar, I always gravitate to Auctioneer Wabang," confesses Grommlah of Eonar (US-H). "I hardly give Thathung or Grimful a passing glance. I half expect a rut to have developed on the right side of the AH, as many of my fellow buyers and sellers on Eonar favor Wabang as well. I'm curious to know if this issue perpetrates on all servers, and if Thathung and Grimful will pave the floor in Cataclysm to fix the obvious commission advantage Wabang currently enjoys." What say ye, commenters? Does your realm favor uplifting the righteously cool Wabang, as well?

Date a gamer Yes, girls play WoW. (Heck, they even write about it from time to time.) Now, a website called Gamer Dating helps you connect with other romance-minded WoW players. The brand, spanking new service is moving into open beta this month. "Just sign up, chat and mail one another, then exchange your details simply using our 'Play Date' system and get straight into a game with the date you've just found!" claims the text of the typo-sprinkled yet enthusiastic site. "MMORPG fans, we're the site for you! We have lists and people from every major MMO on earth looking for partners to enjoy their passions with." Personally, I'll be "enjoying my passions" with my tank of choice a little closer to home -- but do tell in the comments if you end up meeting the she-goat or he-orc of your dreams!

Meet me at SMThis week and last, we shared the incredible details behind the annual meetups of <The Incredibles>. Now comes a sampling of fellowship of a different style from the other side of the Atlantic: the meetup of <Soul Crusaders> of Draenor (EU-A). Their meetup last month in England (near a cathedral strangely reminiscent of Scarlet Monastery) was so successful that the group already has another date this month in Belgium. Click through the gallery below to share the group's obvious delight at finding SM right here on Earth.

A new pacifist in the house Remember Noor the Pacifist? Not only did Noor make it to the level cap with strict rules against killing, but he went back to repeat the project with his undead priest. Now he has a druid dinging level 80 to join the pacifist fold. Join Mainchenn on the beach south of Auberdine to celebrate capping his level Twisting Nether (US-A) on Saturday, July 17 at 4 p.m. Central/realm time. Free party supplies for all Allies; Horde, BYOB!

Epic achievement kFc (Nick) from WoW-Achievements.com writes in to note that Bleeding Hollow (US-A) player Iapeto now holds the undisputed achievement world #1 ranking for achievements, the first from a U.S. realm. "This means much more now, as we have added all the world realms, including Korea and TW," says kFc. Iapeto joins the EU's Caspi at the top of the charts. Congrats on a truly epic achievement!

Contest time Psst -- there's a new contest going on at EpicAdvice.com based on questions and answers about Cataclysm. You don't have to have the most or best questions or answers to win; the contest includes random prizes, too. Sounds like a cool contest for a hot summer day.

The dwarf your dwarf could smell like With all the hilarity from Old Spice hunk @oldspice going on this week over at Twitter, we thought this WoW-centric version of the popular ads starring the deliciously delectable Isaiah Mustafa/@isaiahmustafa was worth trotting out one more time. This version was created by Tim Buckley, artist of the Ctrl+Alt+Del webcomic.
