iTwin USB filesharing solution now shipping in America

Hope you didn't put your life on pause waiting for the iTwin to ship to the US of A, 'cause it took just over a full year to do so. The company's self-named device has finally been listed for sale in America this week, with just 50 limited edition builds able to head out prior to Christmas. If your memory has faded somewhat over the past 14 months, this twin-stick solution is meant to pass files between two USB-enabled devices, but unlike Infinitec's IUM, it's not making any bold promises related to media streaming. The concept is simple enough; just plug one of the twins into your computer, and the other into your pal's computer. It relies on 256-bit AES encryption to keep things secure, and if that's good enough for you, the source link is the where you need to be. These first-run kits are selling for $99 (plus $10 shipping), with a choice of gunmetal gray and lime green awaiting you, and if you miss your shot now, general availability will hit early next month.

Take Your Computer with you in the Palm of Your Hand with iTwin
Special "first look" release of iTwin's Unique File Sharing device available for the Holidays

Singapore (PRWEB) December 16, 2010

iTwin today announced a limited availability of a first generation plug'n'play device that enables simple and safe data transfer between any two online computers. The iTwin is comprised of two identical parts that resemble a standard USB drive. Each half of the iTwin is plugged into the USB ports of any two online computers a user wishes to share. Today's announcement marks the first release of iTwin devices in the US, sold in limited quantity for the holiday season.

In today's highly mobile world, people use multiple devices between work and home, yet files are kept in silos and not easily merged. Even with laptops, airline security regulations can make traveling with them prohibitive, and USB storage devices are often misplaced, introducing risk. iTwin allows users to safely keep all their files in one place, while providing access to them from anywhere; the only capacity limit is the size of your computer's hard drive. The iTwin device does not store any data, eliminating the risk of loss or theft.

iTwin's flagship device is inherently secure, utilizing 256-bit AES encryption. Only the two halves of iTwin know the key, and iTwin generates a new key every time the two halves are paired. If one half of the iTwin is lost, the connection between the two halves can be disabled, therefore denying access. As an additional layer of security, the iTwin can also be password protected.

"Everyone can relate to the problems that we set out to solve when developing the iTwin device. Business people and everyday consumers alike expect to be able to access important information anytime, anywhere," said iTwin CEO Lux Anantharaman. "iTwin users can travel without a laptop, copy or back-up proprietary work documents, files and folders and remotely access and edit files on one computer from another, ensuring complete versioning control on files with multiple contributors. It's also the best way to create a family network - share photos from the latest vacation or wedding or exchange documents. iTwin brings peace of mind with its numerous, useful applications."

Only 50 of the special edition MMX iTwins are available for purchase for $99 USD exclusively from the iTwin store at http://www.itwin.com/buy_itwin.php. General availability will follow in January 2011 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. For more information on iTwin, please visit http://www.iTwin.com.
