Riiflex Wiimote dumbbells cease being a joke, now on sale
You know, we were surprised these Wii Remote appendages actually made it to the pre-order stage way back in April of last year, a feeling which slowly dissipated as they failed to make it out to real retail. Until now. The 2lb / 1kg Riiflex sleeves for your Nintendo-approved wand are ready to purchase, starting at a cent under $30, though the 5lb variety promised earlier is yet to make an appearance -- perhaps it's become yet another victim of the harsh, cutthroat economics of the Wii peripheral business. Anyhow, if you wanna take your Wii Fitness to the next level, the source link will get the set of two to your door with free delivery, though it might be a bit late in helping you shape up for V day.

Headline: Man gets killed as drunken friend playing Wii bowling lunges weighted wii-mote into face.
@geekthree
Wii Weight Whomps Watcher?
A Wii peripheral that will ACTUALLY benefit your health? WOW
I'm actually pretty interested in these! Yeah it might offer some resistance when doing Wii Fit stuff but imo you're going to get more exercise out of them playing 'normal' Wii games like Sonic and Mario at the Olympics or Raving rabids :P
leave em on, feel the burn!
@Hobsie From the wrist flicks? About the same as jerking off.
@Hobsie I feel the burn as it is with just plain Mario and Sonic at the Olympics... I couldn't imagine what this would be like...
Because swinging a regular Wiimote dangerously close to someone's head in the direction of my tv wasn't good enough.
GREAT idea, but $30 seems rather high.
@Atkins
I think its $30 for the pair, so that's only $7.50 per pound.
Considering how Wii Fit flew off the shelves, I can see these as being an absolutely HUGE hit!
This will of course lead to dozens of KIRF knockoffs in the coming months / weeks ...er... days?
Won't some £5 wrist and ankle weights do the same thing?
@xJib
£5 or 5 lb.?
Or both?
@xJib
Very good point, although Wii Fit might call you a fat bastard.
@CtrlBurn
£5
Like these ones here ;-)

Good idea, the only problem I can think of is that you cannot get different size weights.
2lb? That won't do anything, for anyone!
I would loooove to see one of those mothers fly through a HDTV like a hot knife through butter...
This would be perfect for the old folks home I used to work at.
I disagree with the headline. These are still a joke, whether they are a real product or not.
Do they come in pink?

No, it's still a joke.
Watch these fly out of peoples hands and break TVs. Just like the original wiimotes.
Everlast Wii weights have been available for quite a while.
Amazon says "Release Date: April 7, 2009"
(engadget keeps eating my comments... I don't think it likes amazon urls?)
