'Wipe Shirt' disregards mother, encourages you to wipe gadgets on your sleeve
The simplicity of a white dress shirt crafted of pure cotton meets the gadget-cleansing power of microfiber in this "Wipe Shirt" from husband-and-wife design team FIFT. Because you've gotta wear something with that solar tie and swine-flu resistant suit, and you might as well fight smartphone cheek syndrome (and all other manner of glossy gadget smudging) while you're at it. Yours for ¥13,650 (or about $150) in either the microfiber cuff or shirttail variant, only from Japan.

I like the idea, but $150? Zounds.
@DirtyVegas For a shirt that looks like it cost $20? I'll stick to using my $20 shirt to wipe my gadgets with and spend an extra couple of bucks on something revolutionary called laundry.
is it washing Machine safe?
I am a Man and I don't do "dry clean only"
unless its a Tux
@Mentat
i'm a man too. i think we're the only ones because no one else has made such a proclamation.
ugh. tech fashion is so stupid... who buys this stuff?
Yikes... Wipes! Attached to your shirt!
So I can look like a douche' bag and feel like one too?
@GenericMessage
+1
uh I have a microfiber button up dress shirt in my closet. you can buy them at macy's.
@yakapo
FAIL
@yakapo
Way to gay up the thread (get it thread... ha.. ZING)
Couldn't they have made the micro-fiber bit the same colour as the rest of the shirt. It isn't a terrible idea but you'd definitely get odd looks.
@d0mth0ma5
don't be stupid, they should have put the microfiber patches on the INSIDE of the shirt...
@sinai So you have to untuck your dress-shirt to clean your phone (for example)?
@d0mth0ma5
on the inside of the cuff... plus, there's no rule that says you can't wear your dress shirt untucked. i do all the time.
People do know that they sell microfiber towels at places like Ocean State Job Lot for around $1, right?? You can cut it up into quarter sections and throw it into a glasses case or even your pocket.
Why the hell would I spend $150 on this shirt?
Note that the lint/dust/sand you pick up on that cloth is more likely to scratch your electronics than anything else. Unless you're going to be constantly cleaning your shirts.
@(Unverified)
Ew... you don't? ;)
My current shirts work fine enough, thank you very much.
Just makes me remember this http://newsbusters.org/node/12234
Yup. It's a shirt.
You would think for $150 you would at least get a pocket on the shirt
@terryvi72 on a dress shirt?
Why didn't the make the wipey bit the same colour as the actual shirt? It would probably result in less beatings up.
this is horrible.
Horribly fashionable!! LOL
I don't like these and I'm testing if my comment will work. Engadget doesn't like me.
I don't mind the idea or the fashion statement, but 150 is outrageous. Usability is next to nil... as mentioned, all the crap on the microfiber will destroy your product.
The Rhymes With Orange comic used this idea as a joke months ago, only for eyeglasses rather than glossy gadgets.
