What I love the most about the iPad, isn't all those exciting new apps & feature, nor the screen or anything else..
It's just that 6icons dock OTB.
4 looks just DUMB on such a large device. Now this looks more like a OS X dock.
Smart move.
@ASKY
/agreed
totally worth $500.
@BlackedOut
Can't help my Jedi senses to pick up some sarcasm-activity
@ASKY
I just wish we had a little more coverage of the device. For such a big product launch, I feel like there is barely any coverage.
@lsx .. Well here's a thought:
Visit often:
http://www.engadget.com/exclude/ipad
Visit less often:
http://www.engadget.com
Then you won't miss the iPad articles you are interested in and won't keep boring those of us that are interested in the iPad.
@lsx
Of course.
I'm sure the iPhone 4.0 will get no coverage on Engadget whatsoever.
Reading the comments on engadget is the best form of entertainment available. It's classic. And free.
Oh crap, my popcorn's burning!
@Wesscoast
except when it lands on the iPad that is.
Im just glad its finally over (I think)!
We can now move onto different news. It was fun and interesting, now bring on the future Engadget!
@taligent I like to drink a Coke once in a while, but I don't want to drink a Coke 10 times a day. But that also doesn't mean that I never want to see or drink a Coke ever again. The idea is : keep it to reasonable, manageable amounts.
Can't wait for the roundup of iPad roundups. Coming soon i'm sure.
I like ice cream
That's a lot of articles.
the best part is I went to BestBuy to get some memory today at 6:30pm and expected tons of people... not only there was no iPad line, but there was nobody in iPad apple section - there were like 5 iPads on display and NOBODY around, not one single person even playing with them.
can we finally stop talking about iPad, please
@Jimbojones
I would have thought that you shop at the Woolly Bully :) I agree with you though mate, I am interested to see Australia's reaction.
leave my coloring book alone
There is a logical explanation to why I just said that...
@Lord Vader It's like engadget comments are drifting to a galaxy, far, far away, right Vader?
@NathanHeil. That's Lord Vader to you
but yes
The Flash is strong with this one.
@ajac09
you sir, would be perfect to play the lead role in a tragic drama entitled trolleo & juliet
27 Articles.
Engadget you whore.
I still love you.
@BlackedOut .. Windows Phone 7. 16 articles in 3 days for something that isn't even shipping.
I think Engadget gets around more than you think ;)
@BlackedOut - We may love Engadget but she's really pushing it, that whore.
@taligent: not the same beast, in my opinion. windows 7 series ultra 64bit whatever is a new phone OS that will be powering business and geek phones for years to come... and it's a badly needed reboot to that huge segment.
this is a big ipod touch that costs half a grand with no 3g.
big difference there.
I know that the engadget writers love apple, and I've owned (and still do own) apple products, but an article just about scrabble? an article about how many articles you've posted? little bit much, methinks.
Is there an exclude for all pointless iPad articles? I like good news on it...but having a review on every app that you guys wasted your money on isn't interesting to most people, that i know at least. Thats 20-something articles (in just a couple days) and I only actually thought 4-5 had useful information in them. If you listen to your readers engadget, just please make more useful articles.
@bougelahi
P.S
If you're going to post so many articles on one device in the duration of one weekend...why not for every device launch?
share the love engadget and we'll share ours
@bougelahi Can I uprank this into the stratosphere. Just a temporary Flasing-Neon, Rainbow-esk sign saying "READ ME".
@bougelahi .. they ARE listening to their readers. The number of comments on each iPad articles show people (whether they are lovers or haters) CARE.
If you are unhappy then use the following link in the future:
http://www.engadget.com/exclude/ipad
@taligent
you didnt read my comment i guess. I said I like to read about the iPad just maybe not have an entire article about Lebron James not looking at an iPad. I don't want to exclude apple or iPad news I just dont want to have to sift through the junk articles that have no constructive purpose.
@bougelahi .. well guess what. You are selfish. Because Engadget is not here just for you. Not every article is going to be of interest to you. Perhaps you need to take a look back to when Windows Phone 7 was released:
http://www.engadget.com/tag/wp7s/
LOTS of articles there as well.
@taligent
I don't think I'm being selfish. I'm asking journalists to be more objective. I also have a "highest ranked" so I see multiple people agree with me.
@bougelahi .. They ARE being objective. You're too blinded to see. Like I said before there were LOTS of articles on Windows Phone 7 and numerous other devices in the past.
And I would expect when they have the HP Slate in their hands that there will be lots of articles on that as well.
@taligent
they got the joojoo before the iPad...The review came just today.
How many articles have you seen for other devices where a celebrity "overlooked" the device. How many devices have you seen where engadget tells us about every single app that they buy? There are 8 seperate articles only about apps that they bought.
@bougelahi Given how many iPad sales and how many Joojoo sales there are until now, it is pretty clear which device gets the interest and priority. Also it is Joojoo's problem that they sent their device at the time of the iPad launch.
@bougelahi "There are 8 seperate articles only about apps that they bought."
About that. I think we've all seen the comments that the iPad is a big iPod Touch. Well, the apps for one make a difference. So they cover them.
@taligent - Engadget is alot of things, but being objective about the iPad is not one of them. Not when they are literally gushing over it like its their own firstborn, pushing it on Jimmy Fallon (its almost embarrassing how Joshua T tries to quickly gloss over the iPad's weaknesses despite Jimmy's prodding), and including 10 inch compass apps as something "you need" (really ? who the hell needs a 10 inch compass? ).
I've not seen Engadget being this biased ever.
@chriszzz Maybe there gushing over it because it happens to be a piece of pretty damn cool brand new tech ffs.. is it really that hard to comprehend? as for why not the same coverage as the JooJoo easy it's a pile o shit
@bougelahi
Lol, I wonder how you'd think if I tell you that Engadget is not enough for me, I even started going to Gizmodo for all their iPad articles and CNN.com for those iPad iReports.
Nice thorough review for the iPad. I cant wait to see whats in store for MSFT/Windows phone 7/HP Slate. So many choices for me this summer.
@Adamd21
at least Engadget isn't like Gizmodo. I stopped going to that website for good after the past weekend. Did you know they made a post hating on Nintendo because they said the iPad wasn't a threat to them? Gizmodo seriously needs to stop sucking apples cock.
@RickStar
Also, allow me to add, my favorite article was the one where the iPad got ripped to shreds =D
@cslawren
Don't we all wish? However a new Apple event is coming up on the 8th I think. So expect another full page of Apple news for that day and until the end of the weekend.
@n8equalsd
Have you looked at the number of clicks for those iPad themed articles on Gizmodo? People claim to hate them, but they consistently have hundreds of thousands of hits. Lots of clicks mean more money, hence more Apple coverage. I'm sure it's a similar situation on Engadget.
It was quite an impressive product launch, that's for sure.
I appreciate the coverage. I picked up an iPad this weekend and knowing which apps are good from a source I trust is important. Well done Engadget.
300k includes shipments to retailers like Walmart. Doesn't actually mean 300k people have one.
@grobbo
So you have found them in stock in a store today?
Great. Now lets move on to the HP Slate shall we. =P
