LiSeng Vbook cuts the Entourage Edge down to size
The Entourage Edge may be many things, but pocketable it is not. LiSeng looks set to address that shortcoming with its own Vbook, however, which packs a pair of 5-inch screens into a foldable form factor that should at least fit in a large coat pocket. That, naturally, includes one E-Ink screen and one LCD touchscreen (800 x 600), the latter of which handles all of the device's Android duties. While it's still in the prototype stage, the device will apparently run Android 1.6 when it's released, and pack a 624MHz Marvell PXA310 processor, 128MB of RAM, 2GB of Flash storage, and built-in WiFi, along with the usual features on the e-book side of the equation. Still no indication of a price or release date, but you can check out a quick video of the device after the break, and some additional hands-on pictures from our pals at Engadget Chinese at the link below.

Assuming the images on the LCD Panel actually rotate, that's a pretty nifty little e-reader.
@borland502 The Edge's main selling point is, of course, the fact that it has two screens to do true work on. Reactions-- http://bit.ly/entourage-e-reader
@reislorans The eDGe blows this away!
This thing sucks just like Tim Tebow
@Let1me1in
Microsoft Had a better version called Courier
@OCEAN CLAK really? all i saw were nice renders and ugly prototype ...
@Formul
Ha... so even if the Courier is launched, the trail will be littered with the carcasses of "dual screen book readers" that came before it.... not least of which, Penny's digital book from Inspector Gadget. What killed the ePenny? Crap battery life, and no games. :P
Carry that? I think I will have a DS XL please :)
@teco221
you cant compare this and the ds xl there two completely different products. There only alike by having the same number of screens
thats like me comparing the itouch to the ipad oh wait i mean.....
I got this confused with the Microsoft courier for a quick second but then i read the article and title unlike some of the trolls on Engadget.
Shame there are so many versions of Andriod. That needs to be solved so that almost every device runs the same Android cut
@Anatidae
Its android, not andriod. Its based on the word "Droid"
@SolidSnake you think you 're smart...
@Raio
Just clarifying. Not trying to be "Smart"
@SolidSnake
You're just being an idiot
That is completely & utterly fugly! It could be the best two-screen-sideways-laptop-wannabe-ebook-android-tablet-device EVER; I wouldn't drop a DIME on it. Call it superficial, but aesthetics mean something to me & this thing lacks heavily in design appeal.
Hmm.... it seems no one remembers what's been posted in the past. This for example is the exact same device posted about with a different name. This was called the Astri MyID. here's the original post. Look similair?
http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/18/astris-dualscreen-android-e-ink-mid-looks-and-acts-like-a-knock/
I still want this damn thing.
@dissident75 Oh yeah, if you look into the originalname for the device ASTRI MyID you'll see that the part cost is around $65 so retail would probably be around $130.
Not bad at all for a dual purpose device. Plus the size makes this great. At least IMHO.
@dissident75
You Sir are a reader. I have followed the Astri. Hope they make it.
This looks like a throw-back to the 80's.
I'm not sure why, but I get the feeling that it resembles what the Courier will look like when launched... in 2012. I heap of plastic, covering lame PC parts.
Needs
Andriod 2.1
Capacitive Android screen
Resistive e-ink (or non-ink so you could easily move things from one side to the next) screen with handwritting/stylus capabilities
Screen rotation
yeah... thats not stupid at all....(sarcasm)
Android 1.6, 128MB of RAM, 2GB of Flash storage and HUGE BEZEL....
too ez...
I saw the picturet, and at first I was like "COURIER!!"
but then I was like "so close...yet so far" :(
Very similar in specs to the SmartQ v5, which is currently $150USD. This device should be under $250, realistically $300.
The operating system maturity will be an issue though.
There's a "no-apple" option on Engadget. Could there please also be a "no-vaporware" option please ? All those useless posts about vaporware tablets are just plain tiring.
Dear engadget - can we please give us a KIRF like prefix for the VaporTablet stories - criteria being: "still in prototype(or CG render form)" and "no indication of price or release date"
Unless this thing is going for $2.49 or less, why would anyone even consider buying it.
Seems very unresponsive
There are no pictures of the front.
Is it inscribed in big letters saying: "DON'T PANIC"?
Oh, come on now guys. It even says it's the Astri MyID on the screen. You guys aren't even trying any more are you?
You posted about this same product back on January 18th. Guess the new paint job and stick-on label fooled everyone: http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/18/astris-dualscreen-android-e-ink-mid-looks-and-acts-like-a-knock/
@Raikus
Ah, I see dissident75 already called it. Apologies.
WHY CANT THESE OEMS SPEND THE EXTRA $4 FOR MORE RAM! ILL GIVE YOU AN EXTRA $20 FOR IT! FK!
