MY BIRTHDAY'S ON NOVEMBER! YES!!
how much though?
O Darth Vader, Where Art Thou!
@Gator : [they also announced a wicked looking Star Wars game for '11. Freaking excited. Uprank if you are.]
@blenderman345 I WAS going to uprank you, until you asked me too. *Downranks*
Anyway, yay for Kinect!
@Gator I am here. If you are referring to the Vader in the trailer he is a fraud. I know this because it is likely he can be beaten, whereas I am unbeatable. I am suing whoever is responsible for this for using my image and likeness and not making me unbeatable. I guess I'll have to face myself through Kinect and test it
@Lord Vader I'm getting Knect just to fight aganst you! Please don't kill me, I'm not your son.
@Paul Elmy : needs more action titles beyond [my most favorite, most waited for, and most wanted by me], the Star Wars game [reason enough to buy the fricking thing].
@Paul Elmy i hope there will be some sex game available in the coming year! its awesome for that,just think testing porn stars with kincet,oh WOW!
@Paul Elmy
here a video link
http://news.yahoo.com/video/business-15749628/new-microsoft-game-no-remote-needed-20325428
but why did they call it kinect?
@Lord Vader If you strike me down in Kinect on Xbox Live I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.
Vader won't that create a paradox because you are testing to see if your virtual self can be beaten, because you cannot be beaten, so if it is a true likeness you will not be able to beat it so thus the true you must not be the real Vader becaus~ HEADSPLODE.
Wow!
Could possibly be one of the hottest things for the 360 since... well.. the 360 itself!
@LiveFromThe215
Could be hot for Windows 7 as well.
My HTPC is stealing glances in its direction longingly.
@David V
i know, i mean, with all the connectivity of microsoft controllers, when will there be some nice software to use it with for my pc :P
i want to control my entire pc with it!! :D
Sweet Dance time!
Really? seeing all the stuff coming with it looks like wii sports.its like they werent even trying to be different. The espn and zune/media integration was the only real good part about it.
Looking at the live feed, some of this Kinect stuff is pretty impressive. However, My living room isn't big enough for 2 people to breakdance in....
I think motion controllers are not a good idea for xbox or playstation.. save it for the wii.
No price yet, or release dates outside of North America...
@edwinsmith
its a worldwide launch?
@edwinsmith Well if it's the same price as the xbox in America. Expect it to be the same price as the xbox in other countries.
Damn free xbox for the audience.. godddddd!!!! Why am i not there??????
No 1 will buy
So where are the real games? This all seems to be "casual" games. Where is the adventure game or action game, an FPS where you mime a gun and shoot at people? I saw a Star Wars demo before. Is that a lunch title?
@moo083 star wras is coming in 2011 and frankly not that great. Those storm troopers are supposed to be clones of Jango fett and yet they can not aim when they are right next to you.
Kinect is meant to entice/capture the casual gaming market. With voice recognition, hand gestures and easier parental controls etc. it is going to be easier to persuade your significant other to buy this.
Normal games might take their time to embrace this. Forza will come out in 2011 but it will probably be Forza 5 that will do it properly.
@moo083 Agree. No clear tie in with the most popular game titles on Xbox today yet (e.g. Halo, GoW, etc.). I just hope to they don't try to port Red Dead to this, I hate to think what people will look like trying to do air-horseback riding, but maybe holding your hand out like a gun will be popular?
@moo083
See I was thinking about this, and then I realised... Hardcore gamers are actually those who DON'T want to play a Wii-like game.. Why fix games like GoW, Halo etc. that aren't broken (in terms of playability with a controller) with waving hands?
I'm glad Microsoft is separating the two!
@Shash450
How would you move around in games like Halo using something like this?
@toddjy I would hope they do only a few option with the Kinect like menu options , weapon selection or objective selection like selection targets, or troops all the regular directions and aiming would be with the controller. Don't forget about voice activations type options.
I want this shit like RIGHT NOW!!!
I have not been so excited about games in a wild.
I am disappoint.
@MegaJapan - You're not alone.
I was skeptical at first but with dance and exercise games of the caliber shown at the conference this will definitely sell a LOT.
I was hopeful that the UI enhancement part would be a great distinguisher for MS but they have certainly exceeded my expectations with video chat and person tracking.
Cant wait to replace that wii
Your... shape...
Kinect Sports...
...
So uh. What happened to all during 2004 to 2006 of the Wii being a horrible gimmick and that it will never be successful? Please, someone tell me.
@Denji If it's made by Microsoft, it's gaming gold.
Although to be fair, this does look a lot slicker than the Wii first did.
@TheJake
I won't deny it, it looks very nice and probably works a fair bit better too (whenever a console makes a 'leap' for something and it works, other companies now have an example to go 'Okay they went wrong there, let's improve.')
But... Uh. *Coughhypocritescough.*
I feel sooo bad for Sony, everyone got all hyped up on MOVE, but now, Kinect just completely obliterated!!!!! So, I'm getting the iPhone 4, the new Xbox 360 slim alongside my PS3 (which I love because of the blu-ray player built-in) and Kinect. What a wonderful year it is to be ALIVE!!!!
@jzetz body you are a xbox user and not jumping to windows phone?
@jzetz Interesting perspective since we don't yet know what Sony has up it's sleeve. For me, as a gamer, I haven't seen anything in Kinect that begs a purchase. I've seen these types of casual games (on a different scale) before and it resulted in a $250 paper weight. How long before the gimmick of dance wears or do we get sick of petting a pretend tiger? Give me something that extends my current play experience and I'm there ... Kinect, I'm not conviced, is it.
On a side note, I'm not convinced that Move will be it either, unless they have some kick ass titles to work with it. For me, I'll be sticking with my standard controllers; again, this is just one man's opinion.
@Crim I should say, Kinect ISN'T it
@jzetz
Glad you're excited about kinetch, but I fail to see how it obliterated Move.
I'm much more interested in Socom 4 than I am in yet another wiisports clone, or DDR with a camera.
What do I use for buttons? can it track my fingers?
I guess the fanboys of either console will insist theirs obliterates the other, but it looks to me like they are simply different. For me, I just like games with instant interaction (buttons). I want to pull triggers and tap brakes and all that. The wii shows that this combination of motion and buttons is great.
That's not to say the knicth isn't going to be fun. Just that this idea that the Move has been obliterated sounds like fanboy silliness rather than reality.
all those casual games... why
@phuz
Umm, maybe because there is a big market for casual games?
@Dorf well yeah but nothing but casual games on launch date is disappointing.
@phuz Yeah I remember when the wii came out and 95% of the games were casual games; they all sold like crap and the wii was a disaster. They should never have turned their back on the hardcore FPS gamer because Nintendo never came back from it.
@phuz Exactly. This is a bunch of cutesy crap. I have an xbox, not a Wii.
@Kerensky97
the wii has outsold the xbox 360 by over 30 million units. just saying. adding wii-like capability for an extra $150 isn't likely to change those numbers much.
well it seems it kinect is usb connection,i cant wait to get hold of it and mod it so it works with my pc !!!!
Can we all get together and ban the use of the phrase "it will drop"??? Please?
