Android GPS navigation: X-wing edition

Why settle for a Star Wars voice pack when you can completely replace your boring, "useful" navigation system will an authentic X-wing targeting computer? That's thinking of Flash-developer Christopher Caleb, at least, who put his skills to use to develop this note-perfect Adobe AIR-based app for Android. Of course, you won't get anything like maps or points-of-interest, but you will see your destination slowly approach in the "trench" as you get near it, and Caleb has of course thrown in plenty of R2-D2 sounds and Rebel Alliance pilot chatter for good measure. To top it off, you can also simply switch it to a clock mode when you're not on a trench run road trip. Head on past the break to check it out in action.

When you set the device to not pick a destination and just use it as a map it needs to say "Use the force!"

Adobe AIR is still in beta and we are already seeing a roar in AIR apps. Q4 and 2011 will bring a huge roar in AIR and Flash apps and with the ever increasing android devices, it will be just AWESOME !

@AstroSeven No cool and amusing is something that stays fresh. The first time was funny. Second time was amusing. Third time was cute. And it just went downhill after that. That said. If you don't like it ignore it. Nothing is forcing anyone to watch his posts. I mean sure if there was a popup on engadget that forced you to read it before seeing the site or made just his posts blink....but meh. Too many winy babies on the net. If you don't like something ignore it.

@Teddylikescomputahs Luke got it on the first try. It was Garven Dreis, who was flying as Red Leader, that had his torpedoes impact on the surface.

Luke did not use his targeting computer though. It needs to have Obi-Wan pop up when you are getting close and tell you to use the force to find your final destination.
