The Queue: The one where Fox takes over

Welcome to your daily dose of The Queue. With Mike, Alex and Adam busy, their precious Queue was left unguarded and captured by Fox Van Allen. All members of the Van Allen faction shall enjoy a 5% buff to damage and experience for the 24-hour duration, and Spirit Shards may now be collected.

Before I start the queue in earnest, I shall innaugurate the first ever Fox Van Allen edition of The Queue with a question I want to clear up once and for all: "Is Fox Van Allen your real name?"

Yes. That's totally my name. For serious. We all blog under our real names here, and I'm no different. The ladies at Panera never believe me, though. "Well, you know, people sometimes give us fake names."

They think they're so hot just because they have, like, six different kinds of soup. Well you know what? They're not. They're not hot at all. Hmph.

hp1 asked:

My understanding is that there won't be a new neutral city in Cata, a la Shattrath or Dalaran. So where will all the lvl 85's be hanging out? I didn't play in Vanilla but heard most Horde "lived" in Undercity because of it's proximity to Scholo, Strat and to a lesser extent Blackrock. Do you think we'll all be parked in faction-specific cities or someplace new?

Chances are, you'll be hanging out ... where ever you feel most comfortable hanging out. Personally, I'll have my Hearthstone set to Dalaran, because I enjoy the luxury of the portal room. When I set my hearth to Stormwind in the beta, I immediately regretted it.

Still, all the daily quests (like the fishing daily) will be based out of the old capitals like Stormwind. And Stormwind (at least currently) has portals and free rides to the major Cataclysm zones, like Mount Hyjal. Different strokes for different folks, as they say.

(cutaia) asked:

Looking at Crafter's Tome, it appears that all the recipes (excluding Black Jelly) from 400 and up require Northern Spices. Any clue as to how this may be handled? Might Northern Spices become vendor purchasable, or perhaps be removed as requirements for those "leveling" recipes? Or will we just be annoyed at having to do cooking dailies to level our alts' cooking skills? Is there any precedent for this? (i.e., Special recipes from BC being made easier when Wrath arrived?)

Well, the good news is that leveling up professions, cooking included, is supposed to be less tedious in Cataclysm, with some recipes offering multiple skill points. Otherwise, the historical precedent calls for there to be new Cataclysm recipes available below the current max of 450, with little (if any) change to existing recipes.

Besides, since Northern Spices aren't soulbound, you should still be able to head to the Auction House and buy the few you need to get to 425 or 450. They may be more expensive, but probably not by much. They might even be ridiculously cheap, because people won't need the food anymore and there will be easier ways to level. Remember when Primal Nether used to cost 100 to 1,000 gold? They're now on the AH for their vendor value.

Dobrhaltar asked:

When I log out the night before Cataclysm launches, if my character is in an area that is going to be changed drastically, say where a new structure, building or dungeon will be, where will I be when I login? Will Blizzard be "moving" everyone who's stuck to a new place or is there some sort of behind-the-scenes feature that will just adjust my position up or down to whatever the "new" ground level is?"

When Cataclysm starts, you will probably be thrown back to where ever you have your Hearthstone set -- that's how the beta works. Blizzard is aware that you don't want to get stuck in the middle of the earth, so we can pretty much guarantee that's not going to happen to you. (You don't want to be down there anyway. There's a ship. Spooky.)

A drunk girl in a Boston bar asked:

Does Mike Sacco's hair smell like girl hair?

According to her just-as-drunk friend: Yes. Yes it does.
