"We're all very thrilled with how cool it looks, but the same amount of time it takes to make a high-res character for Gears is the same amount of time it takes to make one for Infinity Blade or to make these environments," Chair's Donald Mustard told Joystiq. "It takes time to make this stuff look awesome, and we want it to look awesome."
Make no mistake, Chair has a long-term plan for its slash-em-up, but it's a plan the 12-member development team has to be judicious about executing. Though players may have to wait for a bit for some of the big updates (like the multiplayer mode), Chair is taking advantage of the game's early popularity and pushing the first add-on through the App Store door next week.
Work started on new content the day after the game's five-month development ended, so Chair already has some goodies on deck. Next week's addition, as well as another planned for January, will include more "booster packs," as Mustard describes them -- some additional content to keep things fresh and help entertain us sad sacks who've mastered all the gear.
Next week's pack includes five new weapons, five new shields, five new helmets and a new armor set; enough equipment to increase the level cap to 45. There's also a new enemy type players will square off against called the "Marrow Fiend" (that's him pictured up top). We're assuming he loves marrow.
In addition to these smaller packs, there's more substantial content in the works (all for free, no less).
Plus, of course, a future update will bring the addition of a multiplayer mode. While Chair declined to reveal further details about his tantalizing feature -- or commit to a release window other than "coming soon" -- players can expect their suggestions for the forthcoming mode, as well as for ongoing iterations of Infinity Blade, to be carefully considered.
"We really do listen to the gamer feedback, reading through the various forums," co-founder Geremy Mustard said. "There are some things we agree with and somethings we don't, but the things we do agree with we're going to be putting into the game and making it better."
