The Queue: In short

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

Today's edition of The Queue is a little shorter than I generally like it to be. I like it when The Queue is meaty. Something you can really sink your teeth into. Unfortunately, yesterday's edition of The Queue was all Tol Barad, all the time. Discussion is nice and all, but there's not much you can do with that in a Q&A feature.

Is it possible to request a name for a character if the name is currently taken by a low level if it is unused?

Last I knew, yes! You can petition a GM to free up a specific name. If the character is under level 10 and hasn't been logged in for a long time, the GM can free it up for you. They are not obligated to do so, but they can. I was able to get one of the names I really wanted this way.

Be warned, the GM just frees up the name. They don't give it to you. If they free up the name you want and you take your sweet time creating the character, someone else can snatch it out from under you.

When are the prizes for these giveaways being sent out? I'm kinda curious.

It's going to take awhile. We gave away more prizes during this year's 12 Days of Winterveil than we've ever given away for anything. We need to contact all of the winners, wait for all of the winners to get back to us with their shipping information, then we need to haul all of the prizes to FedEx to be shipped. FedEx stores are not fond of your showing up with nearly a hundred packages, either. I wonder why!

I'm not saying, "Don't expect your prizes any time soon." I'm saying, "Don't expect your prizes too soon."

Travis from Blogatelle asked ...

When, oh dear Lord, when are we going to get a new comment system for WoW Insider? This one is oh so very frustrating.

Soon. With a trademark.
