JBL announces Cinema SB 100, 200 and 400 soundbars

JBL has been sprinkling a fair amount of its sonic-spice atop desks of late, now it wants to sneak some of the same under your TV. Enter three new all-in-one soundbars just announced by the firm, which it claims bring surround sound performance. As well as that virtual surround experience, the JBL Cinema SB 100, 200 and 400 also sport an equalization switch that optimizes sound depending on where you put it (i.e., mounted on a wall, or on a furniture unit). The SB 400 has a separate wireless subwoofer, while the 200 has one built-in, leaving the 100 with the connections to bring in your own. Likewise, the 400 and 200 models also come with Bluetooth, for added audio content streaming options. STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HARMAN International Industries, Incorporated, announces the availability of three state-of-the-art JBL® soundbars that bring surround-sound performance to flat-panel TVs ranging from 32 inches to more than 46 inches. The JBL Cinema SB 100, SB 200 and SB 400 offer high-quality audio for movies, gaming and music, thanks to proprietary signal processing software that simulates a surround-sound environment so viewers feel as if they were in the middle of the action. Also, an equalization switch optimizes audio performance whether the soundbar is wall-mounted or placed on a table.

Each model in the JBL Cinema series was designed to deliver a great bass performance: The SB 400 (above) includes a separate wireless subwoofer that can be placed anywhere in a room, the SB 200 features a built-in subwoofer, and the SB 100 has an RCA outlet to add a separate powered subwoofer. Each Cinema soundbar includes two integrated woofers to enhance bass, while a 'Bass Boost' button on the SB 100 and SB 200 optimizes low-frequency performance.

The JBL Cinema SB 200 and SB 400 feature Bluetooth® wireless, so users can upgrade their home audio performances by streaming audio content from an Apple iPhone, iPad, Android product or other Bluetooth compatible gadget.

The JBL Cinema SB 100 includes two woofers, two tweeters and an amplifier to offer rich sound in a compact, stylish enclosure that can complement a flat screen TV up to 32 inches. HARMAN's proprietary digital signal processing technology simulates a surround-sound experience from the 2 x 30-watt soundbar, and Bass Boost increases low-frequency performance. The JBL Cinema SB 100 recognizes existing TV remote controls and ships with all necessary cables for installation. The JBL Cinema SB 100 has a suggested retail price of $199.


The JBL Cinema SB 200 includes Bluetooth wireless technology to expand the usefulness of the 2 x 60-watt soundbar and delivers a rich audio performance from two woofers, two tweeters, an amplifier and subwoofer in a stylish enclosure. The plug-and-play system complements flat-screen TVs between 32 inches and 40 inches and includes Dolby® Digital Decoding and HARMAN's proprietary digital signal processing technology. The JBL Cinema SB 200 is compatible with free, downloadable JBL apps, including AmpUp™ and MusicFlow™. The JBL Cinema SB 200 has a suggested retail price of $299.


The JBL Cinema SB 400 includes Bluetooth wireless technology for streaming content from an iPad, iPhone or other properly equipped gadget to play through the 2 x 60-watt soundbar. The 2.1-channel system incorporates two woofers, two tweeters and an amplifier in an ultrathin enclosure. A separate 8-inch, 200-watt wireless subwoofer ships with the SB 400 and can be placed anywhere in a room. The SB 400, designed for HDTVs 46 inches and larger, features exceptional bass response as it includes a separate bass control so users can manipulate subwoofer output. The JBL Cinema SB 400 is compatible with free, downloadable JBL apps, including AmpUp and MusicFlow. The SB 400 has a suggested retail price of $549.
