Deezer, Eurosport and Napster coming later this month to LG Smart TVs in the UK

Over the past few months, we have seen LG slowly but surely increase the amount of entertainment content in its Smart TV platform, with apps such as Verizon FiOS (in the US) and Disney rentals among the latest inclusions. Today, the Korean outfit announced there are more of applications coming to its 2012-range television ecosystem, although these newcomers won't be available worldwide -- that said, owners in the UK will soon be able to enjoy what Napster, Deezer and Eurosport have to offer from the comfort of their own couch, which should make a nice addition to LG's current app repertoire. All three new applications are said to be available in "mid-December," so you should expect 'em to show up on that sleek TV of yours any moment now.

LG BRINGS ENTERTAINMENT HOME THIS CHRISTMAS

LG introduces new premium entertainment services to its award-winning Smart TV platform, as well as festive promotions

UK, 19 December 2012 – LG Electronics (LG), today announced further updates to its award-winning Smart TV platform, with the addition of premium content services, including Napster, Eurosport and Deezer to its 2012 Smart TV range. The brand is also gifting Acetrax Movie credit to customers who buy a new 2012 Smart TV, offering the ultimate family entertainment this Christmas.

LG Smart TV offers its first dedicated music services with the launch of Napster and Deezer providing a huge range of music directly via LG's Smart Platforms. With a library of over 17 million songs, spanning all possible genres, a single subscription account with Napster allows users to enjoy their favourite songs on all relevant devices, including smartphones, computers and now their LG 2012 Smart TVs this party season. One of the world's most exciting music services, Deezer, will also be launching this festive season on the LG Smart TV platform, available via a subscription.

Available from mid-December, LG will also welcome the addition of the Eurosport Player, which provides subscription access to live simulcasts of the Eurosport Channels, covering major global sporting events such as the Australian Open in January and 2013 Tour de France. The Eurosport Player app will feature alongside other recent fantastic sports services on the LG Smart TV platform such as a complimentary two month free Livesport TV trial and the recent arrival of the much anticipated BBC Sport App.

This will accompany LG's existing leading film-on-demand services-including Acetrax Movies, LOVEFiLM, Netflix, KNOWHOW Movies and Blinkbox – to offer consumers a wide choice of entertainment, whether subscription or pay-per-view.

To allow consumers to explore the full range of titles available on Acetrax Movies, including new blockbuster releases such as The Dark Knight Rises, new LG Smart TV customers will receive £50 of Acetrax Movies credit* for those who purchase a new 2012 LG Smart TV by 24th December.

Families will also benefit from being able to rent the latest Hollywood 3D movies through LG's 3D World, such as Brave, plus favourites such as Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas and G-Force.
