You gethed it, Mass Effect 3 tops UK charts

EA is reaping quite a haul at retail, dominating the UK charts with Mass Effect 3 and harvesting pounds. According to Chart-Track, first week sales of the space opera's conclusion sold more than the first two installments combined, likely assisted by the fact that this is the first Mass Effect entry launched on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC simultaneously.

Capcom's Street Fighter X Tekken put up a fight against overwhelming odds and debuted in third, while last week's top performer, SSX, slipped one spot into second, with a 49 percent decline. The other new entry in the top ten last week -- also, another EA title -- was the latest Sims expansion, The Sims 3: Showtime, which walked the red carpet in sixth.

The UK top ten can be scanned after the break.
