Massively reader Drannos earns the One Shots spotlight today, having sent in not one but two Lord of the Rings Online screenshots: a before and after shot of Orthanc, the spire at the center of Isengard that's home to Saruman the White in the game's time period. Drannos writes in,
Though I've yet to see the inside of Orthanc, I've been, shall we say, a guest. An involuntary guest. From a distance, it's very impressive, but up close, it's suitably intimidating as well! Having seen it both before and after Saruman's fall, I have to say that it also has an appropriate air of tragedy and despair.
Both shots and two more from other MMOs await behind the break!
Long-time reader Mieke, whose name I've butchered multiple times on the podcast, earns our second spotlight with this shot of springtime in the underappreciated sci-fantasy sandbox known as Ryzom. "Seasons in Ryzom are very important," he notes. "Not only does the world look very different when the seasons change, but the season also affects the resources that you can find and the behaviour of the animals that live on Atys."
Finally, it just wouldn't be a One Shots without a spectacular image from TERA. This one's from Kirk, who tells us that he climbed to the top of these floating sky-bound platforms in Tempest Reach on his Castanic Priest, Yage.
I'm loving the before-and-after theme. Let's do more! Why mail us one screenshot when you could send two at the same price?
Want to be featured in a future edition of One Shots? Send your favorite MMO screenshots to firstname.lastname@example.org, and don't forget to include your name, the name of the game, and a description of the scene. Large, colorful, UI-free shots that tell a story and really show off the game make for the best images. Look ma, we brought back One Shots!
